To All of the Women…

To all of the women
who walk through this door
and rest on this bed.

I don’t know if I ever told you
what this space truly is.

You have left pieces of your heart here,
and together, over time,
we turned what was once
a cold, dreary shed
into something far greater
than just four walls
and a treatment bed.

When I began,
there was no grand plan.
I simply asked the universe
to send me whoever needed me
and just as surely,
it sent me
the women I needed too 🤍

Each of you arrives
with a universe inside,
not made of stars
but of hope and of worry,
weighty sticky grief and
unexpected laughter,
soft longing
and so much love.

There is very little small talk here.
Just the way I like it.
A nurture room
without a mask
in a world that wears so many.

Amazingly ,you didn’t just come.
You stayed.

You spoke my name
in rooms I wasn’t present in.
You sent me the people
who mattered most to you.

You chose this space
for milestones,
for meaningful days,
for moments that deserved
something special.

That has never been lost on me.

As another year draws to a close
and The Nurture Room turns two,
I want to pause and say this —
to all of the women
who walk through this door
and rest on this bed:

I see you and I hold immense gratitude for you.

And as I step into chapter three,
I do so knowing
this story has always been written
together —
with you.

She arrives with a voucher clutched in her hand — her daughter told her to come.
“She booked it. She said mom , just relax but don’t talk too much. She said Gemma will take care of you.”

She’s playing it cool, she’s a modern woman. Not a bother on her.But her nervous system is whispering otherwise.Because she comes from a generation where nobody ever really minded her.
She was always doing the minding . Still is.

She came from a house where there were more children than chairs, where a pair of hands was a precious thing — and hers were always busy.
There were mouths to feed, clothes to wash, fires to light.Men to look after. She didn’t relax; you just got on with it.

“Self care” would have been a punchline in Ireland back then.Spas were for film stars.
And the idea of swanning around in a robe would’ve had the neighbours talking about notions.

So when she steps into the treatment room, it’s not just a massage.It’s a lifetime of muscle memory meeting a brand new language:
Relaxing and feeling safe at the same time.

At first, she might chat nervously.
She might not know where to put her hands, or how to let someone else take care of her.
But slowly… something shifts.
The weight softens. Her shoulders drop. Her breath deepens and she starts to let go.

And by the end she’s glowing. She’s floating out the door.She looks like a lighter, brighter version of herself — the kind of lightness that comes from finally being held.

She’ll probably tell all her friends but she’ll most definitely only tell her daughter it was fine , it was ok , she liked it but it’s not really her thing .
But I’ll know.
And she’ll be back — the next time her daughter drops her off or books her in because she’ll know too.

Because this isn’t indulgence.It’s her turn.
And she deserves every second of it. 🤍
