Neck Pain, can be a real Headache.

We have all had to deal with that horrible feeling, the headache, that suddenly seems to just appear out of nowhere, always at a time when we are most stressed when we are at our busiest at work , always at a time when we can least afford to take anytime off.
Tension or stress headaches , that horrible feeling of dull pain, that tightness, pressure
felt around the forehead , it can feel like a great clamp squeezing the skull.
We do normally get a warning sign though, you know, that time when we start to feel tension/ stifness in the shouders and neck muscles, but most of us seem for some reason seem to ignore these signs and carry on regardless, hoping it will somehow just go away, but it doesn't go away it even gets worse and over a period of time, suddenly out of nowhere it strikes, always at a time when we really do not need it we have to deal with a major headache.
Sometimes the pain gets so bad, it can hurt our eyes, that pain felt in the eyes can make everyday tasks such looking at a computer screen, laptop even driving a car simply impossible to do. That pain can even be felt in the base of the skull going into the jaw bone.
It can get so bad, that chewing of food, talking can also become really uncomfortable, to do.
While medication can reduce some of the pain and discomfort, it may only be temporary.
The root cause of the issue has got to be dealt with, that is tension and stress in the muscles of the shoulders, neck and upper back , has to be removed.
Massage therapy is the most effective treatment when used to reduce muscle tension.
I love to use Orthopedic massage, to help reduce muscle tension and stress in the neck, shoulders and head.
It is a specialised therapy, that can take at least one hour to complete, it is never a quick fix, as all of the different muscle groups have got to be worked on, reducing stress, tension in the muscles and bringing back muscle lenght to the shortened muscles . The session is always completed with gentle stretching of the neck and shoulders.
In some extreme cases, the muscles of the face will have to be worked on.
All of the work is done pain free, as the best results are always achieved when working with relaxed muscles.
I always love working the neck, upper back and shoulers using this therapy as results can be seen almost immediatley, with an increased range of movement of the neck and a great reduction in pain when doing so.
So the good news is there is always help out there, you don't have to continue sufferig with headaches, don't ignore the warning signs.
Massage therapy will help to reduce tension and stress in the neck, shoulders and upper back, helping to keep headaches at bay.

Living everyday with Plantar Pain,
can be a real Nightmare.

Anyone suffering with Plantar Pain will most likely tell you about how they feel that excruciating pain as they take those dreaded first steps of the day. Excruciating simply excruciating, like walking on small sharp stones or walking on hot ashes, that excruciating pain can be experienced for several minutes until the ligaments, tendons and muscles eventually start to warm up and eventually that pain may start to ease a little.
In some cases though it doesn't ease up at all and remains very painful throughout the day.
That horrible sharp pain can prevent people from walking or even standing on their feet for long periods .More extreme activites such as running become simply impossible to do.
While Plantar Fasciitis is one of the most common condtions of plantar foot pain, there are other condtions that can cause pain in the sole of the foot, eg heel spurs, ligament and tendon tears/ strains, so it is most inportant to have the injury properally assessed and treated .
It's is so important to have any issues with the feet treated in the early stages, when left untreated they may even become serious complicated injuries that will take longer to heal and can also even lead to futher issues with the calf muscles and even with the knee and hip joints, due to over compensation when walking in great pain and discomfort.
I always strongly advice people to have plantar pain treated as soon as possible, there is never any need to have to continue to struggle daily with foot pain. There are some wonderful treatments now available to help treat foot pain.
A really effective form of therapy I use when treating plantar pain, is suction cupping with vaccum I find this treatment is really effective in helping to reduce inflamation in the plantar tendon, an area that is very often really tender and even sometimes swollen.
It helps to rapidly increase blood flow in the area, most important in allowing the healing process to begin.
There is no need to continue suffering with Plantar Pain, have it treated.

With Plantar Fasciitis.
Pain is inevitable, suffering is Optional.

People who are suffering with Plantar Fasciitis will often describe that feeling of excruiciating pain and stiffness in the foot, first thing in the morning, that feeling like a tearing in the sole of the foot. They will always tell you about the tightness felt in the calf muscles, so tight that to try to walk down a stairs quickly is almost
Impossible. At least that is until the calf muscles are warmed up, then it can become a little easier.
Plantar fasciitis pain doesn't start or end in the same way for everyone.
There are several causes of the condition, such as standing on hard surfaces, poor supportive footwear. trauma to the sole of the foot, biomechanical factors such as flat feet or high arches.
So the same Protocal can not be used when treating the condtion. Therefore it is most important to have taken a full history and assesment of each individual case before a treatment plan can begin.
For example treating Plantar faciitis caused by a client with flat feet would not be the same treatment as treating plantar pain due to a trauma.
Although there is one common factor when treating the condition, and it is a very important factor that i have found always yields excellent
results in the treatment of the condition and that is, the calf muscles and muscles of the feet have got to be fully worked on to help remove any stiffness or tightness from the muscles and to also release any restrictions in the joints of the feet.
Then the focus of the treatment can be placed on the tender area. If it is still there, as sometimes after all the tauntness is removed in the other muscles and joints, the original pain can be totally reduced.
I find massage, suction cupping combined with
stretching really gets great results when treating the condtion.
It is most important to have Plantar fasciitis treated in its early stages before the condtion becomes chronic. Why people continue to suffer foot pain for several weeks, even months, simply amazes me.
While I have treated several cases of the condtion in its chronic stage and still achieved effective results, it does take a slightly longer period of time to treat the condition, so it’s better to have Plantar pain treated sooner rather than later, I can’t stress that fact enough.
So there is really no need to continue suffering foot pain every morning. Help is out there.

Plantar Fasciitis.

"It's enough to make you want to stay in bed"

Anyone who has experienced Plantar Fasciitis will without doubt tell you about that excruciating pain from first thing in the morning, especially after taken those dreaded first few steps, gettting out of bed. That pain is often described as a feeling of tearing in the bottom of the foot or like a burning sensation in the foot.
It’s horrific and has to experienced in order to really fully describe it.
It may take several minutes of hobbling around the bedroom, before that pain starts to eases, as the muscles and ligaments eventually warm up and then maybe the foot can be put on the ground with some ease.
Walking down a stairs however may take a little longer as the calf muscles will always feel really tight, sometimes even with a burning sensation in the muscle itself.
Plantar Fasciitis is a really unpleasant condtion and its causes can be hard to detect.
Some of the causes of Plantar Fasciitis are improper unsupportive footwear, standing for long periods of time on hard surfaces.
Trauma to the sole of the foot, fallen arches,
High arches. Another major cause of the condition may be due to weak muscles in the lower legs, and even weak glute muscles can play a major role in the root cause of the condition.
It can be sometimes be caused by a combination of a some of the above , so treating Plantar pain can be made even more difficult,as a result.
Plantar Fasciitis seldom starts or ends in the same way for suffers of the condition.
There is certainly no quick fix when treating the condtion and every case has to be treated individually. It is most important to have the condtion treated in its early stages, as it becomes a greater challenge when the condtion is allowed to become chronic.
The good news is that the condition can be effectively treated.
Treating Plantar Fasciitis with a combination of massage and suction cupping achieves excellent results ,helping to reduce overall muscle tautness in the leg muscles, with special focus on the calf muscle and achilles tendon. All the joints of the feet are then mobilized to help return normal range of movement between the bones of the feet, including all the toe's.
Then focus switches to working on the tender area of the foot to help complete the treatment. It is most important that the client continues to do the home care after the treatment, this will really enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. If the home care is not done daily, that horrible pain may eventually return, that’s a scenario best avoided.
Home care normally involves daily stretching of calf muscles and the plantar surface of the foot.
Then if any weak muscles need to be strenghten they need to be worked on.
The longer Plantar Fasciitis pain is ignored, the longer it will take to heal, that’s the simple truth of the matter.
There is really no need to continue suffering with Plantar Pain, once discomfort is felt in the feet have it treated. Don't let it become a chronic condtion. There is simply no need too.

Achilles Tendinitis.
( It starts out with a whisper, but ends with a scream)

You really have to have experienced Achilles tendon pain too fully understand just how excruciating that pain really is. The struggle walking first thing in the morning with that stiffness and discomfort, the struggle going up stairs, it becomes unbearable.
It really is advisable to have it treated in the early stages, never should it allowed to be a chronic condition. Chronic Achilles tendinitis can eventually lead to a total rupture of the tendon.
Ruptured tendons means surgical repair and many long months of recovery. A situation best avoided .
What causes Achilles tendinitis?
Suddenly increased duration or intensity in activities such as running , walking, jumping, causing micro tears in the tendon.
Tight or weak calf muscles, creating a lack of flexibility in the muscles, causing an overload on the Achilles tendon.
Wearing poor unsupported foot wear placing pressure on the calf muscles and tendons.
The good news is that Achilles tendinitis can be effectively treated, there are some wonderful therapies to help treat the condition.
Massage therapy with the main focus of removal tautness in the muscles and increase range of motion in the ankle joint itself.
If the Achilles tendon is really badly inflamed, I find dry needling is also a wonderful highly effective therapy to help reduce the inflammation, helping to relieve the pain.
It is most important post treatment to make sure the calf muscles are gently stretched daily, before then beginning strength work for the calf muscles.
Don’t continue suffering Achilles tendon pain, there is simply no need too.

Stress/ Anxiety.

The vast majority of us will experience neck, shoulder and upper back pain at some stage in our lives. That pain and discomfort can be really debilitating and start to really impact on our daily lives.
From having severe headaches, to feeling real discomfort due to muscle stiffness in the neck and shoulders that can get so bad it eventually leads to people not been able to even turn their heads with that extreme pain, muscle stiffness that can gets so tight /taut it may eventually lead to feelings of numbness and tingling in the hands and fingers.
Simple daily tasks like driving a car, become impossible to do as people can' t even turn their heads to check for oncoming traffic, so it would be unsafe drive. Neck / shoulder pain can also prevent people sleeping, as it becomes so uncomfortable to try to sleep on a pillow due to neck and shoulder pain.
While neck,shoulder back pain can be caused by injury due to falls, car accidents or even due to strains in muscles and ligaments, the pain i am talking about today is as a result of living daily with stress/ anxiety helping to cause extreme tension in the upper body.
When we have to live daily with lots of stress and anxiety, it is really common to suffer with neck, shoulder and upper back pain. An area of the upper back, neck and shoulders is even called the dreaded tension triangle.
Tension loves to live in this space and will often make its presence know to us when we least expect.
While our bodies can deal with short term anxiety / stress, dealing with excessive stress and anxiety now thats a different matter ,either way ,our bodies will always recognize that real threat lurking in the back ground and will then try to give us a wake - up call.
Some of the warning symptoms eg headaches, neck pain, mild discomfort in the shoulders and we may even start to feel some back pain.
If we continue to ignore these warning symptoms and just carry on day to day, hoping that in time these symptoms will just go away, we are making a mistake, a really big mistake.
Eventually all the muscles in the neck, shoulders and upper back will become shortened and get really stiff. Suddenly we start to experience really serious pain and discomfort in the neck, shoulders and upper back.
Muscles in the neck and jaw suddenly become so tense that blood flow to the head and scalp is constricted it can eventually cause severe headaches. Is there a worse feeling than having to deal with a severe headache?
Well maybe a toothache or earache can be as bad, but it is such a horrible feeling, is it not?
Muscles in the chest, shoulders and neck become so tight and taut, that they can cause compression to nerves, leading to numbness and tingling in the hands/ fingers.
If this tightness in the muscles is not reduced
these condtions will greatly increase and simply become unbearable.
The good news is that neck, shoulder and upper back muscle stiffness/ tautness can be effectively treated and reduced using a combination of massage, suction cupping and stretching, it is wonderful to see the change in a person who is in real discomfort at the start of a treatment, as they start to feel pain reduction both during and at the end of a session. Even their facail expression changes from the start to finish of the treatment, pain greatly reduced and a great weight lifted off their shoulders.
There will also be great improvement in range of motion of the arms, and turning the head will be so much easier, with reduced discomfort when doing so.
So it’s always best when people start to feel an increase in tension in the upper shoulders, neck and upper back, in that area know as the tension triangle, have it treated. If you continue to carry on daily carrying this tension in the upper body it’s going to cause several issues.
Getting bodywork or massage done on a regular basis is a really effective way of reducing muscle tension in the area, helping to prevent that tension building up again.
Our bodies are simply amazing and they will let us know when something is not just right.
