It was a pleasure to welcome members of Social Farming Ireland, Social Prescribing Offaly and the National Counselling Service to Ballykealy Social Farm for an experiential morning. I hope to be able to invite other groups to enjoy nature as the farm grows. The bees woke up for the first time this year and the frog spawn is developing

That concludes a wonderful Social Farming Group. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did. Today we mulched, sieved compost, planted garlic and enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch together! Watch this space for new year!

As we approach the longest night of the year I crave light and rest. Its been a busy year. Sending thoughts to all the people I have listened to and worked with this year. My thoughts are with those estranged from their family, those grieving and those alone. Sending you all my best wishes.
Wishing health and rest to all. I look forward to seeing you in the new year. I am finishing up next week and will be back January 05 2026. Please note I am full, but returning clients will be offered a appointment as soon as I have one in new year. Take care All!

Playful Parenting Talk with Dr. Joanna Fortune

Dr Joanna Fortune is an accredited psychotherapist specialising in the parent-child relationship. She is the author of the best-selling 15-Minute Parenting series of books, is the host of the 15-Minute Parenting podcast and she has a weekly parenting column in the Irish Examiner. Joanna has delivered a TedX talk and is a regular media contributor. She has worked with families around a variety of issues and is a recognised supervisor, trainer and conference speaker in her field.

Joanna's area of speciality is how a playful approach to parenting can result in less tears and more laughter. She will talk us through the developmental stages of play (including how they resonate now in our adult lives) and how to integrate play into our parenting strategies to strengthen and enhance our connection with our children. Its been a beautiful and productive summer in Ballykealy Social Farm. We enjoyed the fruits of our social farming guests. We hosted some lovely Workaway guests who brought a lovely energy with them. Thanks to Elaine for the bat survey; We have 4 types of bats, and are thrilled. I was delighted to welcome a group from TENI who spent an afternoon engaging in nature and gardening. You cant move for butterflys this year. Hope you are well, and wishing everyone a mellow Autumn. Looking forward to welcoming our next social farming guests who will help me realise a new special project!
