The death has occurred of Josie (Joseph) Clarke, Clonmacmara, Mullagh, Co. Cavan, suddenly but peacefully at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin surrounded by his family on the 31 March 2026.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Anne and his daughters Laurinda and Veronica.

Deeply regretted by his daughters Serena and Sylvana, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, his brother Tony, sister in law Camilla, his aunts, uncles , nieces, nephews, relatives and friends

Remains will repose at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58), this Wednesday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Removal from Matthews Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Church, Cross on Thursday morning arriving for 10:30am Celebration of the Word, Final Commendation and Farewell .
Burial afterwards in Mullagh Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Peadar McCabe, Raffoney, Virginia, County Cavan, on 22nd March 2026, at Beaumont Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, following an illness bravely borne.

Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Eileen.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving children Sharon (David), Trish (Dessie), Eilish (Barry) and Sarah (David) and by Bridgie their mother, and by his adored grandchildren Leah, Ruth, Ciara, Sinéad, Devin, Lauren, Aifric and Breffni.

Peadar will be sadly missed by his daughters and grandchildren and by his brother Padraig, his sister Maura (Sheridan), sisters-in-law Catherine and Tina, brothers-in-law Martin and John, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, and his lifelong friend Michael.

Reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia, Co. Cavan, A82 YV58, on Wednesday evening from 5.00pm until prayers at 8.00pm.

Removal from Brigid’s home in Drumrath on Thursday morning, arriving at St. Mary’s Church, Cross, for Funeral Mass at 11.00am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The death has occurred peacefully of Jimmy Smith, after a short illness, at the Mater Hospital, Dublin, 18 March 2026. Predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas and Amelia Doran.

Jimmy will be deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving partner Deirdre; his daughters Nadine and Amelia; his son Jamie; his grandchildren Savannah, Oliver, Fionn, Jasmine and Jaheem; his special friends Brian, Mandy and David, and their children Senán, Caoimhe, Caragh and Aodhán; his good friends and neighbours; and his extended family.

A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life will take place in Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Monday, 23rd March, at 12 noon.

No flowers please. Donations, if desired, in lieu to the Mater Hospital Foundation IC Unit.

Those attending Jimmy’s Celebration of Life are asked to wear bright colours in honour and celebration of his life.

The death has occurred of Susan Jane Neill, Rampart View, Virginia, County Cavan, on 16th March 2026, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

A private cremation has taken place.

A memorial service to celebrate Susan’s life will take place on Saturday 21st March, at 2:30 p.m. in Lurgan Community Centre, Correagh, Virginia ( A82 YC95).

The death has occurred peacefully of Bernie O' Donoghue (nee Burke),former N.T., Cavan Road, Virginia, Co. Cavan and formerly Cloonfad,Roscommon peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on 9 March 2026. Predeceased by her husband Hugh Bernard, her parents Thomas and Rose, her brother Tom and her sister Marian. Much loved mother of Ann (Towey; Meath), Tadhg, Gráinne (Smart), Róisin (Kelly), Brian and Tom (Newbridge).

Bernie will be sadly missed by her sons and daughters, her daughters in law Áine and Elsie, sons in law Fintan, Martin and Maurice, her cherished and adored grandchildren; Aisling, Shane, Cian, Michéal, Connor, Cameron, Euan, Andrew, Ruth, James, Meabh, Sinéad, Séan, Roisin, Tomás, Jessica, Abbey and Beth, brother in law, sister in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Removal to Mary Immaculate Church, Virginia via Main Street, arriving for 11 o’clock Funeral Mass on Thursday 12th March, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

As a mark of respect, O’Donoghue’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Virginia will be closed on Thursday.

The O’Donoghue family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care, kindness and support given to their mother by the Cavan General Hospital medical team and to her wonderful carers and her special friend and carer Lucy.

Predeceased by his parents James and Marie(Morgan)and his brother Donal. Deeply regretted by his brother John, his sisters-in-law Marie-Thérèse and Eithne, his nieces Constanza, Sofia, and Kiera and his nephew Rory. Tony will be missed by his family, cousins and friends.

The death has occurred of Liam Murphy, The Drumlins, Virginia, County Cavan, and formerly Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, unexpectedly at his home.

Predeceased by his parents Sheila and Seamus and his sister Siobhan.

Much loved partner of Ann-Marie and cherished and much loved dad to Gail, Jen and Karen and adored Pappy to Alana, Leon, Georgia and Charlie and much loved Pappy to his great-granddaughter Ayla.

Sadly missed by his partner and his daughters and their mother Maureen, grandchildren, great grandchild, sons-in-law, Eoghan, Cormac and Graham, his brothers and sisters, Catherine, Eamon, Joe, Seamus, Ciaran, Fergal, Sheila, Padraig, Cathal and Marie, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, his friends in Virginia Golf Club and a wide circle of friends.

The death has occurred of Saji Chirayil Surendran, The Drumlins, Virginia, unexpectedly at his home on the 14th January 2026.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Shreelatha Sadanandan (HSE Virginia) and his loving daughter Aaradhya.

Deeply regretted by his wife and daughter and a large circle of friends and neighbours in Virginia and surrounding areas and by his family in India.

The death has occurred of Fr. Patrick Brady (Paddy), Cornaslieve, Virginia, Co. Cavan, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in the exceptional care of staff of Portiuncula Nursing Home, Multyfarnham, Co. Westmeath.

Late priest of the Diocese of Kilmore.

Pre-deceased by his parents Molly and Thomas, brother Leo, sisters May and Angela.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sister Vera (Virginia), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, Bishop Martin Hayes, Bishop-Emeritus Leo O’Reilly, brother priests, former parishioners, and his many good friends.
