Remembering Seán Ó Sé at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork
Yesterday morning, while reading the Echo EchoLive.ie we learned of the passing of Seán Ó Sé, the much-loved Cork singer whose music holds a special place in so many hearts.

In this video, our wonderful resident Margaret honours his memory with her beautiful singing as we reminisce about the songs Seán Ó Sé was best known for, including “An Poc Ar Buile” and “The Banks of My Own Lovely Lee”, often regarded as a Cork anthem. His music sparked many fond memories and heartfelt conversations among residents and staff alike. We had a lovely sing-song in his memory.

As a mark of respect, residents and staff will come together tomorrow at 12 noon to watch Seán Ó Sé’s funeral live, joining many across Cork and beyond in celebrating his life and legacy. A live-stream link is available for anyone who wishes to watch and pay their respects - this is the link https://ballinloughparishcork.ie/live-stream/

Sometimes it’s the simple moments that mean the most 🌅

Last week, one of our eagle-eyed staff members spotted a magnificent sunset and captured these beautiful photos for us to share.

Our staff then brought Residents to "The Flower Walk" here at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork to enjoy the absolutely breathtaking sky. With its glass windows and peaceful surroundings, the Flower Walk is the perfect spot to pause, reflect, and take in the beauty around us.

Smiles, quiet conversations, and golden skies made it a truly special moment shared together.

Thank you to our caring team for always creating meaningful experiences for our Residents 💙

Today at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork we marked Women’s Little Christmas (Nollaig na mBan) in the best way — with good company, great conversation, and a celebratory glass of 7Up 🥂

Women’s Little Christmas is traditionally celebrated on January 6th, marking the end of the Christmas season. It was a day when women, who had worked tirelessly over the festive period, finally had a chance to rest, go out, or enjoy time together.

Our Residents shared what the day meant to them, sparking wonderful conversations and memories from years gone by. One Resident fondly recalled how she would always head into town with her mother for a bit of shopping — and on the way home, they’d stop at Jackie Lennox’s, a much-loved Cork Chipper, for a treat. Stories like these truly brought the past to life.

Moments like today remind us how important it is to celebrate tradition, memory, and connection 💙
