Acupuncture originated in China over 3,000 years ago and due to its proven effectiveness has been embraced throughout the world. It is a complex medical system that is used to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease and improve general well being. It involves the insertion of very fine, pre-sterilised needles at predetermined points on the body’s surface to restore health on a physical, psychological and emotional level. It may be combined with other forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine such as:

*Moxibustion - a gentle and relaxing heat treatment, very effective for certain pains and aches.
*Cupping - cups are placed on the skin to create suction, relaxing the muscles and stimulating blood flow.
*Dietary Advice
*Lifestyle Advice

Lovely demonstration and explanation of cupping by Cork acupuncturist Fiona Barry on Virgin Media today. Cupping is regularly used in Chinese Medicine for pain relief and congestion in the body. I often use it for long covid clients too.
Cupping marks are often noticeable on Olympic athletes.

Cupping therapy is one of the most ancient and revered healing techniques. Chinese Health practitioner Fiona Barry is here now to tell us more.
