Good morning all ❄️❄️
As I said earlier this month, here is my not-so-festive post for what's coming up soon ( 7days if you're German, 8 days if it's you):
Drum roll please. NOT EVERYONE LOVES CHRISTMAS!!
It's one of the harder admissions, but it's true. There are many reasons. Financial strain, family issues, grief, loneliness, social anxiety. And social media doesn't help. Everything has gone bigger, and bigger doesn't always mean better.
I remember much simpler Christmases and have beautiful memories and not everything is bad. So here's some tips that might help.
🎄You don't have to do things in a particular way. Yes! Just because you and yours have done things year after year doesn't mean you are not allowed to do things differently this year.
🎄Take time out. Go for a walk. Enjoy the peace of nature. Meet a friend for a quiet coffee.
🎄Don't get into arguments. Really, don't.
🎄Prepare for the harder parts. If you feel low or exhausted on Stephens Day, prepare. Take a break from people. Have a good book, a favourite movie, anything that makes it a little easier for you.
🎄Be gentle with yourself. Its okay to feel sad/low/angry/resentful/lonely/all of the above. If you feel like a good cry, do.
I can promise you that you are not alone in that feeling.
Much love ❤️ Gisela
