We feel incredibly proud to introduce
💜The Sensory Hub💜 here at City Square. What a brilliant addition to Waterford City, welcoming parents, locals, and visitors alike.

This space has been thoughtfully designed to support children’s regulation, relaxation, and sensory engagement. The hub aims to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for children with sensory needs and their families.

We were delighted to welcome Metropolitan Mayor, Councillor Adam Wyse to City Square this week for the official launch, alongside the incredible Autism Friendly Waterford Committee. They are an amazing group of volunteers who work tirelessly to bring initiatives like this to life🙌

It’s truly special to see this idea become a reality, and we know it will help make trips to town that little bit less stressful for so many families.

A huge THANK YOU to every single person involved in this project!

One of the nicest things about organising an event such as this one is discovering the generosity of people in the community.

Sometimes, there is someone who really stands out & in my case I have to say that person is the beautiful Agnes from Magical Creations by Agnes. 🥰

Now available to download and print are wallet cards for each type of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD).

The wallet cards are available in US and UK printing sizes. One side features the EDS or HSD type, and on the reverse is a scannable QR code that links to the type-specific webpage featuring signs and symptoms of that type and further information.

🌟 Disability and Your Responsibilities Training

Following last year’s success, Buíon Phort Láirge is excited to host our “Disability and Your Responsibilities” training — a session that many local employers attended and enjoyed last year!

This workshop is designed specifically for employers, managers, HR professionals, and business leaders who want to build more inclusive workplaces.

The WorkAbility Programme supports people with disabilities to access and sustain paid employment, while partnering with businesses to promote inclusive recruitment and workplace practices.

Today, April 2nd, we recognise World Autism Awareness Day 2026 under the theme “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value.”

At The Viking Hotel, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all of our guests. We offer sensory maps, sunflower lanyards, and sensory boxes, and some of our team members have completed training with Autism Friendly Waterford.

We also have an Access Welcome Guide available on our website to help guests plan their visit in advance and feel comfortable and supported during their stay.
