👉 Are EAPS effective? Do they provide value for money?

A recent UK study reported in the March issue of Health and Safety Review cast doubts on the value of a number of initiatives to support worker mental health. The UK study of 200 companies found that EAPS and other similar interventions were not effective in supporting health issues in workers.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is urging its members to think prevention, safety, compliance, risk assessment, guidance, and employee support therapy and calls for a structured approach to address the many issues surrounding workplace mental health.

Join Maurice Quinlan and Don Jorgensen for a ground-breaking on line course on Thursday 20th June 2024 at 2 pm Irish Standard Time (IST, UTC+01:00 ).

There are 15 places at this event and 5 places are now booked.

Meet Maurice, one of the experts behind our upcoming course on Work Addiction.

Maurice Quinlan’s interest in work addiction developed after the premature death of his father from a combination of ni****ne addiction alcoholism and overwork. He inherited the behavioural work traits from his late father. During the Covid 19 lockdown, he arrested his personal addiction to work and is now stress free. He also arrested all addictive behaviours resulting in an increased quality of life and work.

He is currently developing a range of online courses on work addiction, employee support therapy, psychosocial risks and workplace drugs and alcohol

As Director of the EAP Institute based in Waterford, Ireland, I met with Don Jorgensen Ph.D., Tucson Arizona in the Bishops Palace Waterford Ireland in August 2018 to discuss the emerging trends of the safety risks of workplace mental health. Discussions also took place on a new model of Employee Support Therapy (EST) using the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) recommended structured approach to safety and mental health and the ISO 45003 global standard published in February 2021.

The EAP Institute has developed an annual online three hour training programme and the next course” ISO 45003 – Assessing the Risks of Psychological and Psychosocial Health and Safety at Work” will take place on Thursday 26th of September 2024 from 2-5 pm Irish Standard Time (IST, UTC+01:00).

I am extending an invitation to an EHS Safety professional to present a case study on developing the ISO 45003 standard.
