Preferential Safety Training & Consultancy Limited – 4x4 Instructor Course Completion

Preferential Safety Training & Consultancy Limited, in partnership with Civil Defence, is proud to announce the successful completion of our first 4x4 Instructor Course, delivered as part of a Civil Defence pilot programme. This intensive three-day course marked an important milestone in enhancing national emergency response driving capability.

The programme was delivered to a highly experienced group of Road Safety Authority (RSA) approved driving instructor Civil Defence volunteers, with the objective of qualifying them as 4x4 instructors. The course was designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to train Civil Defence personnel in the safe operation of 4x4 vehicles, both off-road and during severe adverse weather conditions, including snow and ice. This training directly supports the Civil Defence’s readiness to respond effectively during extreme weather events and emergency situations.

The course was delivered by our expert 4x4 training team, all of whom have extensive experience in 4x4 instruction and operational training across the Irish Defence Forces and An Garda Síochána. As this was an instructor programme, it was pitched to a very high standard. On the final day, all participants were required to deliver course content themselves, including classroom-based presentations, practical vehicle demonstrations, and the assessment of learner performance.

The Civil Defence Driving Instructors who attended were extremely enthusiastic, professional, and already operating at a very high standard. All participants were successful in adding this new 4x4 instructor qualification to their existing driving instructor credentials.

This pilot programme was an outstanding success, and we would like to thank the Civil Defence and all participants for their commitment and engagement throughout the course. We are now looking forward to delivering the next scheduled courses and continuing to support the development of advanced 4x4 driving capability in the very near future.
