Last week, we were pleased to be attending an exclusive event hosted by the British Embassy Israel and Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, focused on Innovation, IP and Investment. The event featured leading voices including Ambassador Simon Walters, Debbie Shapiro from the UK's Department for Business and Trade (DBT), Gerson Panitch from Finnegan, and of course - Chemi Peres, Managing Partner & Co-Founder at Pitango and Chairman of The Peres Center for Peace and Innovation.

The conversation centered on practical aspects of Israeli companies entering the UK market – covering topics from intellectual property protection and strategies, to investment opportunities and expansion in the UK.
Chemi shared a powerful life lesson he learned from his father, Shimon Peres z"l, who served as both Prime Minister and President of the State of Israel: When you are a Prime Minister, you have power. You have laws, authorities, mandates - you can order and enforce. But when you're President - a role that is primarily symbolic and representative - you influence and motivate people mainly through their good will.
This is one of the most beautiful definitions of true leadership. Whether you're leading a country, a tech company, or a team - real impact comes from the ability to inspire people's desire to act, innovate and succeed.

At SHAAR Healthcare Innovation Hub, we see this as deeply resonant. Healthcare innovation cannot be mandated. It requires vision, trust, and collaboration. From clinical validation to market expansion, our work is rooted in building relationships that empower innovators to lead with purpose.

Our Community and Operations Manager, Or Yitav, represented SHAAR Healthcare Innovation Hub in an evening filled with inspiration, meaningful connections, and a true sense of mission, having a pleasure to connect with women leaders who are shaping the future of technology and innovation in Israel and beyond.

We had the privilege of hosting “Horizon Europe Funding Opportunities & Success Stories” in collaboration with Shaare Zedek Medical Center Research and Development Authority and ISERD - Israel-Europe R&D Directorate , at our SHAAR Healthcare Innovation Hub.
The event brought together physicians, researchers, and startups to explore European funding pathways and share success stories from Israel’s health ecosystem.

🌟 The program included:
A Horizon Winners Panel with Prof. Yishai Ofran, Gili Focht, Yuval Taff , and Prof. Oren Ram, moderated by Nati Bloch-damti – offering firsthand insights into how EU grants accelerate groundbreaking medical research and innovation.
A Funding Opportunities Session with ISERD representatives Yotam Beit-Yannai, Jessica Stroweis, and Sarah Smadja Chiche, presenting practical guidance on EIC, ERC, and consortium programs.
Round Tables where participants engaged directly with ISERD, gaining clarity on application processes and collaboration opportunities.
