ADI - Advancement of People with Disabilities & Rehabilitation for All
Major-General (Res.)
By reimagining rehabilitation, ADI is advancing ability for all - empowering children, adolescents and adults with severe disabilities and providing cutting edge therapeutic and recovery services for anyone touched by disability. By advancing ability, ADI empowers Israel’s most vulnerable individuals – children, adolescents and young adults with severe disabilities – to reach their greatest lifetime potentials. ADI is also reimagining rehabilitation, providing cutting edge therapeutic and recovery services to individuals needing inpatient and outpatient care following an accident or health event. ADI’s teams of professional staff and volunteers at ADI Jerusalem and ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran are pioneering and sharing new ways to transform the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. ADI also advocates, educates and leads efforts nationally and globally on disability inclusion, disability equity and providing rehabilitative care with dignity and a focus on the future. The ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitative village in Israel’s south and the ADI Jerusalem residential center comprise a continuum of loving care from infancy and childhood through adulthood, ensuring that residents with multiple disabilities and complex medical issues receive the medical and rehabilitative care and educational, vocational and social opportunities they need to reach their fullest potentials. At the same time, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, which offers a host of rehabilitative solutions for individuals from all backgrounds and levels of need, is undergoing radical growth to meet the country's rehabilitative needs. The Harvey & Gloria Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, the first rehabilitative hospital in the Negev region, is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation, research and social center that will establish a model of community-based inclusive health services, increase the number of Israel’s rehabilitative hospital beds dramatically, bring quality care to the underserved residents of the south, and create more housing and jobs in the Negev, marking the beginning of a brand new era of medical and economic strength for the State of Israel. Doron Almog leads ADI as Chairman of the organization, Avi Wortzman serves as CEO of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, and Shlomit Grayevsky serves as CEO of ADI Jerusalem.
‘ADI’ (pronounced ah-dee) is the Hebrew word for a radiant and multifaceted jewel, a name that reflects our expansive vision and broad scope of activities, including disability care, rehabilitation, research, employment, education, community services and Tikkun Olam. It also speaks to the importance and great value of our mission to care for the most precious members of our society – those who cannot care for themselves.

"I have never seen anything like this - this village is the most inspiring and beautiful place I have ever been. The thought, attention to detail and leadership necessary to create and maintain this rehabilitation village is almost beyond belief. I am so grateful for this life-changing experience."

💚 HIGH-IMPACT INTERNSHIPS: 🤲🏻 In an effort to inform and empower young leaders, ADI Jerusalem's volunteering program exposes gap year students to the realities of disability, the power of individualized care and the impact that they can make by opening their hearts to those who need them most. These internships includes educational sessions with our professional staff, projects run in tandem with our dedicated National Service volunteers, and hands-on training to become full-fledged contributing members of the team. Each week, students from Yeshivat Eretz HaTzvi, Midreshet HaRova, Midreshet Moriah and other Israel-based partner schools bring their unique talents and abundant energy to ADI Jerusalem, where they run pre-Shabbat sing-alongs, play with the residents, feed the special education students and do anything else they can to lend a hand. By caring for the most vulnerable members of our society, these proud and passionate ADI volunteers are discovering what real strength looks like! 💪🏻♿

🐶 PUPPY LOVE: 💕 ADI residents enjoy a rich schedule of cultural and leisure activities and supplementary therapy sessions, including the very popular Canine Therapy Program. During these sessions, the staff works together with a professional trainer who brings specially trained dogs to meet with residents on an ongoing basis. The staff assists in interfacing between the dogs and the residents, as a sense of trust and camaraderie is established between them. Playing and interacting with the dogs stimulates the residents and helps them develop their cognitive abilities and fine motor skills. The importance of these experiences cannot be overstated. Dogs offer a sense of safety and boundless unconditional love that is hard to find elsewhere, and many residents respond to the dogs more than any other therapy. For our ADI family members, these cute canine companions are critical elements of their personal growth and social advancement! 🐕

💪🏻♿ GOING THE DISTANCE FOR EMPOWERMENT! Watching your team triumph in the Big Game is exciting. 🏈 Witnessing a child who was told that she would never walk defy the odds and take an independent step is exhilarating. 🤩 At ADI, we utilize a variety of therapeutic treatments and a host of specialized walkers and wheelchairs to help our residents and special education students take control of their mobility and reach personal developmental milestones each and every day. We strive to always put our best foot forward, healing the world by empowering one child at a time. Now THAT is a triumph! 🏆 🌍 💚

🌱 CULTIVATING BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES: 🌊☀️ ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran's 'Gardeners Without Borders' Program provides 40 individuals with disabilities who were deemed "unemployable" by others with a framework for inclusion, rehabilitation, socialization, skill-building, meaningful work and gainful employment. This spirited special needs gardening team receives generous wages and social benefits, participates in enrichment activities, and takes part in an annual group vacation. ADI is Israel’s most comprehensive provider of residential care for individuals with severe disabilities and the leader of the national rehabilitation movement. While empowering hundreds of Israel’s most vulnerable citizens to advance well beyond their initial prognoses and live happy, dignified, and meaningful lives, ADI is also establishing fully inclusive communities and laying the groundwork for the provision of the highest-level rehabilitative care for all.
The ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitative village in Israel’s south and the ADI Jerusalem residential center (formerly a part of the ALEH network) comprise a continuum of loving care from infancy and childhood through adulthood, ensuring that residents with multiple disabilities and complex medical issues receive the medical and rehabilitative care and educational, vocational and social opportunities they need to reach their fullest potentials. At the same time, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, which offers a host of rehabilitative solutions for individuals from all backgrounds and levels of need, is undergoing radical growth to meet the country’s rehabilitative needs.
Slated for completion in 2021, the ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran Neuro-Orthopedic Rehabilitative Hospital, the first rehabilitative hospital in the Negev region, will feature 108 rehabilitative hospital beds and Israel’s first translational research institute, increasing the number of Israel’s rehabilitative hospital beds dramatically, bringing quality care to the residents of the south, and creating more housing and jobs in the Negev.
