Joyce Harper is a very wise woman and I love everything that she shares around women's health and menopause.
I was so honoured to have her join me for the latest episode of the Things I want my Daughters to Know Podcast.

We explore why women’s health education has historically been incomplete, why men and boys must be included in these conversations, and how misinformation, even from trusted institutions, is shaping how women view their bodies and menopause itself.

I have seen a lot of weird stuff on Social Media recently related to the latest health trends.
But this is a total WTF moment!!!!!

I have nothing against Jenny Powell and other TV personalities like her who are working hard to change the midlife women's conversation.
The question we have to ask is.... what narrative are they creating!!!!

What message are they sending about how to embrace and navigate your midlife years in the best way for you.

I don't have any real problem with the text of what she has written, it all sounds pure and exactly what we want to be hearing.
BUT the image says something else entirely.

When did it become OK, normal, accepted behaviour to just let your friend give you an NAD shot and promote it as "part of your midlife support."

I'm not saying hide it, doing it in secret, don't talk about it.

But this messaging is profoundly problematic and is sending a dangerous image to midlife women that actually you are NOT OK without all the extra stuff - the GLP1s, the N**s, the latest peptides, the latest supplements, the latest health crazy.

The image actually flies in the face of everything she writes in the post!
It doesn't show embracing this stage of life for the regular woman.
It doesn't educate about N**s, what they do, how they can help you, what you need to be aware off, dosage, medical guidance around its use.

It doesn't inform or educate.
All it does is generate clicks.
It feeds into the meno-business that convinces women that they are not enough.
It builds on the fear already present in the the health care system that tells women if they are not doing "all the things" they are putting themselves at risk.

It says - you are not enough without this next miracle cure!
We need to stop holding up these personalities as role models for what midlife living should be!

Let’s talk about the question most women are afraid to ask out loud:
"Am I putting myself at risk if I DO NOT take HRT?"

The pendulum has swung so far in the opposite direction since 2002 that rather than asking if HRT is going to cause cancer, women are now worried that they are increasing their long-term health risks if the are NOT on HRT.

It's for this reason I created the HRT Masterclass.

This masterclass is not:
🚫 Pro-HRT
🚫 Anti-HRT
🚫 Offering a one-size-fits-all solution

It is about:
✔️ Pro-informed decision making
✔️ Pro-personalisation
✔️ Pro-women understanding their bodies

In the HRT Masterclass, we unpack:
• Where the cancer fear came from
• What the latest research actually shows
• Why many doctors are still giving outdated advice
• And how to have a more informed conversation with your healthcare provider so that you make the right decision for YOU.

✨ “I finally understood the whole HRT–cancer conversation. I felt empowered, not scared. Now I know what questions to ask my Doctor.”

🏵️ When you purchase the HRT Masterclass you will get Instant Access to the 2 hour deep dive Masterclass (updated as of 2025), a Q & A session and links to all the resources mentioned in the Masterclass.

If you feel like you’re being asked to make a decision about HRT
without ever being properly taught what it is — you’re not wrong!

Most women who are experiencing classic menopause symptoms are offered HRT to by their Doctors after a short appointment, with little explanation, no explaining the nuances and very little context.

Doctors are trained to hear the symptoms and then prescribe.
They are not trained to sit down and teach menopause.

And yet, you’re expected to say yes or no to something that impacts your health, symptoms, and future wellbeing.

And very often your decision is based on loud headlines, social media algorithims, strong opinions from influencers or fear-based messaging.

🩷 That gap is exactly why I created The HRT Masterclass.
This isn’t about convincing you to take HRT.
It's not about focusing on the potential risks of HRT.

It IS about making sure you understand the issues involved and making an informed, educated decision that is personalised to YOUR specific situation.

In this Masterclass we take a deep dive into:
• Where the HRT fear and cancer association came from
• Why advice has changed over time and what to consider
• What the lastest research actually shows
• What HRT can help with — and what it can’t
• What questions to ask when you see your Doctor

You’re being asked whether you want HRT without anyone ever sitting down and explaining what it actually is, how it can help you, and if it's the best option for you.
No one explains what hormones, what dosage, what application?

Doctors prescribe it now freely.
The Media says it's all safe and you don't have to worry.
Social media seems to imply that if you are NOT taking it, you are putting yourself at long-term health risks.

But almost no one slows down and teaches you the full picture in clear, non-medical language.

Not because they don’t care, but because our medical system isn’t set up to educate. It’s set up to diagnose and treat.
And yet, you’re expected to make a serious decision about using medication from a 10-minute appointment.

I know it feels confusing and overwhelming.

🌸 That’s why I created the HRT Masterclass.
The HRT Masterclass is a 2-hour deep dive that breaks down:
• What HRT actually is
• The real risks (and non-risks)
• What the research actually says
• And how to make an informed decision that feels right for you.

This Masterclass gives you all the information you need BEFORE you go to your doctor, so that you can have an informed and eduated conversation about what is the best option for you.

💻 Once you purchase the Masterclass (ONLY $99) you'll get Instant access.
Included in the price is a Q & A session of the most frequently asked questions by my clients and links to all the resources referenced in the Masterclass.

If there was one thing I could tell every single woman it would be this......
Menopause DOES NOT equal symptoms.
It is that simple!!

Menopause is a normal, natural stage of life.
Women have been going through menopause since the beginning of time.

It may look different today.
We may have better knowledge, information and understanding.
We may have more stress, lifestyle triggers, more exposure to toxins, and lower quality food.

But women's bodies know exactly how to navigate through these years.

The thing that NO ONE is talking about is WHY our bodies journey through this life stage and WHAT is the reason for it.

And that's what I LOVE to unpack with women.
Because when we ask the right questions, it changes our whole experience!

I live in a menopause bubble - I know that.
I assume that there is a menopause doctor on every corner in the UK just waiting to support women.
I assume that women have equal access to informed and educated doctors that can give them clear answers.
I assume that women have equal access to clear information from reliable source and can therefore make informed decisions about the best ways to support themselves.
I assume that all women know HRT is one way to support themselves but not every woman responds in the same way to it.

But I ALSO know that these assumptions are NOT TRUE in the real world
It just seems that way from my social media feed 😬

Because this is the sad truth.......
🛑 Whilst the menopause conversation has grown and we are talking about it in ways that never existed, there are still some major issues that women are facing....

➡️ Uninformed and uneducators doctors who think they don't need to be menopause informed because it's not relevant to them.
➡️ Training programs that are not regulated nor teaching information in an honest and nuanced way.
➡️ Women who don't know how to recognise peri-menopause symptoms and are getting recommended anti-depressants or other medication to treat "random symptoms".
➡️ Well informed and educated women who go to their doctor but get brushed off, or who never hear the word peri-menopause mentioned in their appointments.
➡️ Plenty of women who don't have access to reliable information or practitioners and are not getting the support and help they need.

For all those menopause health coaches, practitioners, nutrititionists, midlife coaches who are supporting women navigating their peri-menopause and menopause years ....... REMEMBER that many of your clients have never been exposed to the information you are seeing everywhere!

I try to remember this every time I work with midlife women.
Some are well informed and have had to research menopause themselves to figure out what's going on with them.
But many women are coming to me so confused that they need supporting firstly to understand what's going on.

It is the reason I created the Menopause Informed Training Program for Practitioners.

What are you finding with your clients - how informed are the women that you work with??

The Mayo Clinic and Flo Health Inc. and online health app have just released new research to assess the global knowledge and symptom experiences related to perimenopause.

This paper is the first of it's kind in its size and data source - a survey completed by the app's online users. And the results are really interesting.

The findings highlight significant knowledge gaps, with symptoms identified as common during perimenopause but differing from those most frequently experienced.

Futhermore - and as expected - there are clear international variations in both knowledge and symptoms.

The paper itself is a very interesting read but take a look at a summary that Flo Health produced.
They point to 4 main observations:

1. The widespread lack of symptom awareness
2. The international disparaties in knowledge.
3. The top five symptoms recorded were physical and mental - and not what you would expect.
4. The international differences of women's lived experiences.

This is an important read for anyone in the menopause space.
We need more research, understanding and knowledge about women's lived experiences to guide how the menopause conversation needs to answer the real needs of women - and not just what influences THINK the needs are!

When you think of a menopausal woman, what image comes to mind?

In today's Podcast episode we are breaking down the stereotypes and looking at the diversity of what and who a "menopausal woman" is and how she experiences this stage of life.

This is a really important conversation and one that I am so happy to have had with ADEBUKOLA - BUKKY AYOADE who sheds so much light on this issue.

A new Cambridge research paper came out in the last few days that is creating quite a storm with the menopause community - both with experts and the midlife women themselves.

The new study "Emotional and cognitive effects of menopause and hormone replacement therapy" published in the journal Psychological Medicine in late January 2026 is creating fear mongering headlines like:

▶️"Menopause linked to Alzheimer's-like brain changes" {BBC}
▶️"What Menopause May Be Doing to the Brain" {Technology Networks}
▶️"Menopause causes loss of brain matter which could explain women's dementia risk" {ITV News}

This is what media LOVES to do!
But let's actually look at the reality of the research and what we REALLY KNOW about menopause and brain function.

The Menopause Consortium did a review of the research and here are some of the most important points

✅Researchers found that postmenopausal women showed reduced grey matter volume in specific brain regions compared to premenopausal women.
✅Changes in grey matter volume occur naturally with age in all individuals — regardless of s*x or menopausal status.
✅The study identifies an association between menopause and brain changes — it does not prove that menopause causes dementia or cognitive decline.
✅Encouraging research suggests that some grey matter volume may recover after the menopause transition.

AND most importantly......
✅Decisions about HRT should be based on its proven benefits for managing menopausal symptoms, not on dementia prevention.

https://themenopauseconsortium.com/menopause-and-brain-health-what-the-research-really-tells-us/

But the best thing I have watched on this topic is Clark in conversation with Prof. Pauline Maki.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6vfTNiLZXI

She is THE EXPERT on brain health in midlife women.
And there really is NO proven causation (yes correlation but NOT causation) between menopause and dementia, and NO proven research that HRT prevents dementia.
The biology is way more complicated!

I know it's complicated.
I know there are A LOT of loud voices who would like you to believe the fear-based menopause conversation .
But you really need to listen to ALL sides of the conversation.

Does HRT/MHT prevent dementia?Does our cognition recover after menopause?Join us on Oct 7 for a chat with one the world’s preeminent brain & menopause expert...

I talk alot about changing mindset and language and challenging accepted narratives around menopause, women's health and aging.
This is a BIG piece of what I do as a menopause educator and coach and the focus of my Podcast.
The current narrative doesn't serve women, is fear based, and isn't empowering.

But I also have a whole protocol that I use in my coaching work with women to get them to FEEL different by healing their hormones and becoming symptom free.

The theory of changing language and conversation isn't enough if it's not backed up by practical strategies and a deep understanding of what is really going on in your body.

So here are the 5 steps of the protocol that I implement as part of my coaching work with women.

✅ Identify the source of your imbalance and symptoms using my 5 Pillars (stress, nutrition, movement, sleep and connection).
✅ Remove and replace the triggers and behaviours that are keeping you disregulated and symptomatic.
✅ Repair and Heal key systems in the body that are being impacted by hormonal fluctuation and may be exaccerbating imbalance - for example gut, adrenals, thryoid, liver.
✅ Restore and replenish your whole body with clear, easy to implement, personalised action steps.
✅ Create long-term health by supporting the body with clarity, accountability, personalisation and connection.

Embracing and celebrating midlife living doesn't have to be complicated - but it does have to be holistic!

If this resonates with you and you are interested in working with me please send me a DM and I'll share details of my coaching work 🩷

26/01/2026

This is what I know to be true about Menopause.
It is being sold as a reproductive experience.
Reproductive hormones decline, your periods stop, you stop being able to get pregnant. Your reproductive system shuts down.
BUT THAT IS NOT THE WHOLE STORY.

The truth about menopause is that it is a whole body experience.
Yes, hormones fluctuate and set up shop at new lower levels relevant for this new stage of life.

But really your whole body is changing!
Because your reproductive hormones are not ONLY managing your reproductive cycle.
They are managing LOTS of jobs in your body!
Which is why menopause impacts us mind, body and soul!

It's also the reason we need to look at what is happening in our whole body - in the critial systems like the gut, thyroid, adrenals and liver.
Because they are ALL impacted by our hormonal changes during this stage of life.

For example it's not enough just to say "I have symptoms, I should probably run to get my eostrogen patch" if you haven't checked what's happening with your liver!

That's because if your liver is not detoxing your excess eostrogen and removing it from your body, then adding EXTRA eostrogen is not going to help!!!

As an integrative menopause eduator and coach, I want my clients to understand the whole body experience of menopause.
I want them to know that navigating this stage of life means looking at health and wellness from all angles, and also means looking at how we implement easy, simple strategies today to support ourselves as we age.

That may or may not include HRT as part of the program, but it involves a lot of other things too!

If you want to enjoy your menopause by healing your hormones and being symptoms free, AND set youself up for a fabulous post menopause then drop me a DM and I'll share details of my coaching work.
