Move like a human 👽

I’ve been saying this quote a lot lately. It’s in reference to how we sequence and prepare people in our Yoga classes. 🤸🏼‍♂️🤸🏻‍♀️
Long before there was Asana (physical yoga) our ancestors hunted 🏹, gathered 🍇, ran 🏃🏼‍♂️, walked 🚶🏼‍♂️, climbed 🦎, crawled 🐢, etc.
It’s these forms of movement that ultimately shaped our anatomy 💀 & function 💪🏻
Any activity beyond these 🏋🏼‍♀️🏂⛹🏼‍♂️🏌🏼‍♂️🤽🏼‍♂️🥋⚽️🏈 actually takes us away from our intrinsic design.
𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙤𝙠𝙖𝙮!
(So long as you respect your natural human joint structure! 😄)
I personally believe that Yoga does a pretty 💩 tier job of warming up and preparing us for the physical postures of Yoga and the exercises.
Stretching, releasing, & opening up 🙈someone’s hip or any joint in some passive stretch isn’t preparing them for anything. Stretching only makes you good at stretching &
In order to properly prepare ourselves 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, we need to go with our natural design. Teach a shoulder how to move like a shoulder, a hip to be a hip, etc! 🤓
⭐️The healthiest joints are mobile (mobile = flexible, stable, coordinated, balanced)⭐️
Asana is movement after all. So move like a human being 🐒 not some yoga robot! 🤖 It seriously betters your ability to be a Yogi 🧘🏼‍♂️
(And results in less injuries, better movement on and off your mat, & feels amazing but you all know that because is one the underlying themes of my book😉)
