Detectable and curable, there is a nearly 100% survival rate in high-income countries. However, global survival rates vary, emphasizing the need for awareness and accessibility to treatment. The eye, with its intricate chambers, remains a fascinating window to both the soul and the body.

Global Retinoblastoma 2024 Study

From January 1st 2024, over 400 treatment centers from across the world will start collecting data on treatment-naive children with retinoblastoma.

Thank you to all ~700 collaborators from over 150 countries and principalities. Wish us all a happy 2024 and improved outcome for those little ones who rely on us.

רופאה מקמרון, קולגה של פרופ פביאן, יצרה עימו קשר בנוגע לילדה בת 9 שנים עם גידול בארובת העין מסוג לימפאנגיומה. מדובר בגידול שפיר, שאינו מסכן חיים, אך פוגע בראיה וגורם לפגם אסטטי ניכר.
במסגרת פועלו כמנהל Sheba Global Ophthalmology, קשר פרופ פביאן בין פרופ גיא בן סימון , מנהל יחידת אוקולופלסטיקה בשיבא, לרופאה מקמרון. פרופ בן סימון הדריך את הרופאה אונליין, כאשר היא בחדר ניתוח בקמרון והוא בישראל. הטיפול כלל הזרקה של בלאומיצין לארובה (לתוך הגידול), שהביא לשיפור דרמטי במראה הילדה.
