Received my 1st dose of Phizer COVID vaccine yesterday at Sheba! You need 2 shots to be fully vaccinated.

At this point 12/2020, all medical professional and people over age 60 can receive the vaccine.

Phizer COVID vaccine and allergies.
All patients with asthma, food allergies or allergic rhinitis can receive the vaccine with no extra precautions.
Most patients with drug allergies can receive the vaccine with no extra precautions.
Patients with a history of anaphylaxis to other vaccines, unknown cause anaphylaxis should not receive the vaccine at this time.

Asthma and COVID-19
A publication in Nature last week reviewing the data from 17 million patients showed that asthma was not associated with increased severity or risk of death from COVID-19.

However, markedly increased mortality with COVID-19 was found in those individuals with increasing BMI - people who are overweight and obese.

So continue to take you asthma medications and control your weight with healthy diet and exercise. Exercise outdoors, early in the morning or later at night, avoiding the heat and the crowds.

Is it a food allergy or food sensitivity?

Food allergy reactions can be life-threatening. Symptoms can occur very quickly when coming in contact with just a tiny amount of the food. Many food allergies are first diagnosed in young children, though they may also appear in older children and adults.

Eight foods are responsible for the majority of allergic reactions in the world: cow’s milk, eggs, fish, peanut, shellfish, sesame, tree nuts, and wheat.
