Kahn-Sagol-Maccabi (KSM) is the Research and Innovation Center of Maccabi Healthcare Services

Kahn-Sagol-Maccabi (KSM) is the Research and Innovation Center of Maccabi Healthcare Services, Israel’s leading HMO. KSM was founded in 2016 in cooperation with Morris Kahn and Sami Sagol and is led by Dr. Tal Patalon. We support researchers, med tech companies, startups, and other global healthcare stakeholders and ecosystem partners in their journey from ideation to implementation. We offer a global market startup launchpad; a data partnerships framework; full access to KSM’s know-how; IRB approval, and ultimately, potential solution implementation in HMO services. KSM ‘s assets include a cloud-based research platform integrating big data and AI technologies; the Tipa Biobank™, a 900K- sample repository (the largest of its kind in Israel); cutting-edge clinical research initiatives; and an award-winning epidemiological research team, all of which contribute to the advancement of innovative, global health solutions.

Today we held the traditional KSM Rosh Hashanah gathering.

This past year has been remarkable: welcoming new team members, opening our dedicated Clinical Trials clinic, establishing the Bio-Convergence team, deepening global collaborations, expanding our biobank, and advancing groundbreaking research.

We believe that research and medical development truly matter for people, shaping care and improving lives. This vision reminds us of the resilience and hope that carry us forward.

Shanah Tovah to our partners, colleagues, and friends. Our hearts remain with those still held hostage in Gaza, wishing for their safe return.

🔬 Sarah Sharman Moser revealed an average 8.5-month delay from first symptom to treatment in early-stage lung cancer — highlighting the need for faster action.
💊 Vered Rosenberg showed that biologics for ankylosing spondylitis have similar real-world effectiveness — giving doctors solid data to guide care.

Sometimes, the real story isn't what the numbers first suggest.

This new study from KSM and Tel Aviv University shows that early use of acid-suppressive therapy in infants seemed linked to a higher risk of celiac disease —
but when the researchers dug deeper, the association disappeared.

The real insight?
Not all risks are biological.
Sometimes, what we see is a reflection of behavior: who seeks care, who gets tested, who gets diagnosed.

In a world where disease rates are climbing and early-life exposures are under intense scrutiny, understanding these hidden layers is essential.
