In the ever-evolving field of medical sciences, one truth remains constant: learning never truly ends. As we grow older and busier in our daily practice, finding time to upgrade our skills becomes increasingly challenging. Yet, it’s this very commitment to growth that keeps us sharp, relevant, and able to offer the best care to our patients.
Among the many branches of orthopaedic surgery, pelviacetabular surgery is widely regarded as one of the most complex and demanding. Mastery in this field calls for not just technical skill, but also a deep understanding of anatomy, precision in decision-making, and a dedication to ongoing learning.
To further hone my expertise, I recently took a step back from my regular clinical practice and completed a short-term advanced pelviacetabular surgery fellowship under the esteemed Dr. Rahat Jarayabhand at Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital in Thailand. This opportunity was made possible through the Gaziabad International Travelling Fellowship, and I’m deeply grateful for the experience.
Working closely with Dr. Jarayabhand and his team, I had the chance to refine my surgical techniques, observe cutting-edge approaches, and discuss complex cases in an academic environment that fosters collaboration and curiosity. The experience was both inspiring and humbling — a reminder of how much there always is to learn, no matter how far along we are in our careers.
Stepping out of daily routine to invest in your professional development is never easy — but it’s always worth it. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned to improve patient outcomes and to continue growing, both as a surgeon and a lifelong student of orthopaedics.
