Someone asked me, โWhy have you changed the spelling of โCosmeticโ to โKosmatikโ?โ
I replied, โThat is what a plastic surgeon does. โhe changes the form. And if it is kosmetik in Germany, why canโt it be kosmatik in India?!
He said, โBut โCโ is more appropriate as it represents Curves. It appears more natural. โKโ has straight lines and you know, Nature does not believe in straight lines.
I said, โYou are correct but here the โKsโ represents Knowledge and Knife.
He questioned, โDonโt you think that the relationship between beauty and blade is unreasonable?โ
I said, โNo, not at all. Human beings have been using instruments for self- adornment since Stone Age. They have used and have been using stretching of neck and lips, scarification, ear, nose and lip piercing, tattooing to look more beautiful.
He continued arguing, โBut improving beauty by cosmetic surgery is not just natural.โ
I told him, โWhat you are saying is ridiculous and out of date. Can you imagine a nearsighted person refusing to get glasses because they are โunnaturalโ? Have you ever heard someone boast that their crooked teeth give them โcharacterโ? Or that their hearing problem is part of their โpersonalityโ? Like crooked teeth, lousy eyesight or poor hearing, it is just as easy to be born with a nose that is too big, a chin that is too small or breasts that never develop. There is no need to blame yourself if you were born with something you are unhappy with. There is nothing wrong with correcting it. Lots of people feel Mother Nature could have done a better job."
He commented, โWhen all is said and done, beauty is only skin deep.โ
And I quoted Jean Kerr. โI am tired of all the nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. Thatโs deep enough. What do you want-an adorable pancreas?โ
