Some offer their wealth as sacrifice, while others offer severe austerities as sacrifice. Some practice the eight-fold path of yogic practices, and yet others study the scriptures and cultivate knowledge as sacrifice, while observing strict vows. (4.28)
My International Yoga Day special memory:
Far away from "ONE DAY" Yoga showbiz/trend/rush/formality/compulsion.
After Darshanam at Gangotri on the way to Suryakunda randomly got to see this Hatha Yogi (Swami Siddheshwargiri) in his this small hut cooking lunch for him. He was having so powerful and divine energy that attracted me and I ended up asking his permission with Namaskara to enter his hut and he with a big smile welcomed us.
I introduced myself as a Yoga teacher, he took a keen interest in talking and explained so precisely principles of Ashtanga Yoga and its practice and emphasized so much on practicing यम (Yama) & नियम (Niyama) and insisted me to focus more on teaching these two components of Ashtanga Yoga.
While leaving he blessed me with deeper studying and practice Yoga.
He was so contented soul and very deeply educated and practiced Yogi living in a small hut at the bank of Maa Ganga with very minimal necessity, cooking his own food everyday even though it's not a big deal to get ready-made food served at his hut.
This made my International Yoga Day highly special in the lap of Maa Ganga.😇
