When conviction becomes collective action, change is inevitable. ✨

Congratulations, Dr. Abhishek Shankar—for bringing together a chorus that India urgently needs.

90–70–90 wasn’t just a slogan echoing through the hall; it was a shared resolve, spoken in one voice.

If not now, then when?
If not us, then who?

At India’s first National Summit on the Elimination of Cervical Cancer at AIIMS, New Delhi, the energy was unmistakable. The voices of the youth were strong and clear, reminding us that this movement is not only timely—it is unstoppable. When young leaders step forward alongside clinicians, policymakers, public health institutions, and innovators, momentum transforms into mission.

What stood out was the coming together of intent and action—from accelerating HPV vaccination, to scaling HPV DNA–based screening (including self-sampling), and ensuring timely, dignified treatment. These are not ideas for tomorrow; these are actions that must move on the ground, now.

Every such platform strengthens our resolve. Every collaboration brings us closer. And every step taken together builds the pathway to a future where no woman is lost to a preventable cancer.

The movement is real.
The coalition is growing.
And the time to act—is now.

When Science, Policy, and Purpose Converge 🔬🌍

A powerful THiSTI roundtable under the aegis of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India—brought together some of the most influential minds shaping the future of health and innovation.

The session was chaired by Dr. Hema Divakar, in conversation with Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, a globally respected physician-scientist and public health leader. As Chief Scientist at the World Health Organization, Dr. Swaminathan has overseen WHO’s work on digital health and innovation, and is internationally recognised for her seminal contributions to tuberculosis, HIV, and health systems strengthening.

The roundtable explored how biotechnology, digital innovation, and evidence-based policy must work in tandem to address complex health challenges—especially in diverse, resource-variable settings. From translating research into real-world impact, to aligning innovation with equity and ethics, the discussions reflected a shared commitment to science that serves people.

This exchange exemplified the power of collaborative leadership—where clinicians, researchers, and policymakers come together to shape solutions that are scalable, inclusive, and future-ready.

Because meaningful progress happens when knowledge meets action, and innovation is guided by compassion.

Breast Cancer Awareness | AICOG 2026

Held on 16 January 2026 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka (New Delhi), this impactful public forum at AICOG 2026 brought together clinicians, public health advocates, and community organisations with one shared purpose: to strengthen awareness, promote early detection, and empower women to act early against breast cancer.

My sincere thanks to the Breast Committee, FOGSI, for the invitation and for creating a platform where medical science meets community engagement—because awareness, when shared widely and clearly, truly has the power to save lives.

A special salute to the awesome foursome who delivered a powerful, people-centric conversation at the public forum, translating evidence into action and fear into clarity. 💪🎗️

The momentum now builds further—with Dr. Charu Bapaye set to escalate efforts at the global level and newly installed Chair Dr. Nibha Mohan poised to rapidly multiply impact across the country.

This is how movements grow.
This is how prevention scales.
And this is how the FIGO Wheel of Wellness continues to roll on—from awareness to action, from conversation to care

The WOW Initiative — When Wellness Comes Full Circle 🌸⚙️

The Wheel of Wellness (WOW) is more than a concept — it is a working model of prevention in action. On display at AICOG Delhi 2026, the WOW kit brought together a powerful collection of point-of-care devices designed to detect risk factors early — in pregnancy and well beyond — exactly where women are.

First launched at a cutting-edge conference in Bengaluru (August), the kit has since rolled across Bengaluru, Hassan, Gadag, and Bijapur — and continues to expand, reaching women who often miss routine screening until it is too late.

As highlighted by Dr. Hema Divakar and Shantanu Phatak, this initiative demonstrates how ideas translate into impact when innovation meets intent. With the combined efforts of HDR Healthcare Foundation, Team DOTO Health, ARTIST, and Divakar’s Speciality Hospital, wellness is being taken out of conference halls and into communities — practical, portable, and people-centred.

The WOW kit enables frontline teams to identify anemia, hypertension, diabetes, nutritional gaps, and other silent risks early — empowering women with knowledge and enabling timely care. This is the FIGO Wheel of Wellness in action: preparing every woman for the next phase of life, with readiness as the core principle.

At AICOG 2026, WOW stood as a reminder that women’s health is not episodic — it is lifelong, and when the wheel keeps moving, outcomes change.

Meghalaya has set a national benchmark — becoming the first state in India where 100% of private maternity facilities are certified under Manyata. This is more than a milestone. It is proof that quality can reach every corner when intent and collaboration are strong. 🌿

As I often say, “Manyata is not just a certification — it is a movement to ensure that every mother, regardless of where she lives, receives quality and compassionate maternity care.” Meghalaya’s full private-facility coverage is a proud moment for FOGSI and a powerful model for other states to follow.

Implemented with FOGSI in close collaboration with the Shillong Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society, this effort brought 12 private facilities under the initiative and helped upskill 230+ healthcare professionals — strengthening the systems that women rely on during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

This matters deeply because Meghalaya continues to face real geographic and access challenges, with a hilly terrain and dispersed population where private facilities often become the most accessible point of care for women in remote districts. Manyata’s presence here signals a meaningful step forward in safer childbirth, improved maternal outcomes, and respectful care.

At the heart of Manyata are 20 evidence-based clinical standards, aligned with WHO standards of quality maternal care, spanning antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum services — ensuring that quality is not occasional, but consistent.

Meghalaya has shown what is possible when every stakeholder commits to one goal: making childbirth safer and more dignified for every woman, everywhere.

“Quality is not about ticking boxes. It is a system-wide investment.”

For years, Manyata has shown what becomes possible when clinical excellence is standardised, stewarded, and sustained—across geographies, resource settings, and realities of care.

Taking this vision forward, we are proud to introduce MANYATA LOANS—a first-of-its-kind initiative in India where healthcare excellence meets finance.

Too often, care quality and capital operate in silos. Lending decisions overlook quality, while quality programmes underestimate financial constraints. This gap is felt most sharply by smaller maternity facilities in tier-2, tier-3, and peri-urban India—the very backbone of maternal healthcare.

Manyata Loans bring care and capital together, linking financial support to Manyata certification and creating an incentive-aligned pathway for facilities to invest in safer systems, strengthen services, and sustain excellence.

The concept was introduced on the sidelines of , at an event hosted by Manyata and The Blended Finance Company, in the presence of FOGSI leadership, funders, financial intermediaries, and members of the Manyata network.

In conversation with Dr. Shuchin Bajaj, the discussions were both delightful and deeply insightful. My appreciation to Pompy Sridhar for bringing this powerful concept to life, and to everyone who contributed their time, expertise, and belief to build this from the ground up.

When quality care is valued, financed, and sustained—systems change.

Documenting journeys and lessons is how we transform experience into guidance for the future.

It gives me immense pride to share the launch of “The Manyata Movement” in India during the Manyata Session at , following its international debut at .

This book captures the soul of Manyata — a movement that began with a vision and evolved into a nationwide transformation of maternal healthcare. With 40+ chapters and contributions from over 80 experts, it traces the journey of how Manyata was envisioned, piloted, strengthened, and scaled across India. From technical standards to real-world stories, challenges, and lessons, it is a comprehensive repository of learning for anyone committed to improving the quality of maternal care.

I was honoured to share the stage with esteemed colleagues and leaders who have been integral to this journey —

Dr. Hrishikesh D. Pai, Shri Rizwan Koita, Dr. Bhaskar Pal, Dr. Rishma Pai, Pompy Sridhar, Dr. Aparna Rao, Dr. Milind Shah, Dr. Dipak Bhagde, Dr. Priti, Dr. Ameya Purandare, Dr. Sampath Kumari, Dr. Laxmi Shrikhande, Dr. Vidya Thobbi, Samita Bhardwaj, Dr. Amit Shah, Dr. Suranjeen, and Dr. Parvez — each of whom has contributed meaningfully to strengthening systems and saving lives.

My deepest gratitude to every contributor, collaborator, and partner who made this publication possible. Manyata stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when clinical excellence, systems thinking, and collective commitment come together.

Here’s to the entire ecosystem that continues to believe in quality, accountability, and dignity in maternal care.

Healthcare should not depend on privilege — it should reach every woman, where she is.

At Alameen Adilshahi Women & Children’s Hospital, Vijayapur, the HDR Healthcare Foundation, led by Dr. Vidya Thobbi, conducted a Free Women’s Wellness Camp for women aged 30+.

👩‍⚕️ Over 50 women — mostly homemakers from rural and semi-urban communities — received comprehensive health screening covering metabolic health, blood pressure, anemia, diabetes, and bone health.

Despite living close to healthcare facilities, many had never undergone preventive screening before.

This camp changed that.

Fatigue. Dizziness. Body pain.
Often dismissed — rarely investigated.

At the camp, many women showed:

🩸 Hemoglobin levels between 8–10 g/dL, indicating mild to moderate anemia

❤️ Uncontrolled blood pressure exceeding safe limits (>140/90 mmHg)

These conditions are frequently linked to menstrual health, nutrition gaps, and lack of routine screening — not lack of resilience. When women are informed, they act. And when healthcare listens, outcomes change.

This camp changed that.

What we don’t test, we don’t treat.
And what we don’t treat — quietly worsens.

Screening at the wellness camp revealed alarming, undiagnosed metabolic risks:

🔺 Blood pressure readings as high as 150–176 mmHg
🔺 Random blood sugar levels crossing 200–300+ mg/dL
🔺 Obesity strongly linked to joint pain and hypertension

Nearly 1 in 4 women showed high blood sugar or blood pressure — many for the first time.

These are not statistics.

These are early warnings — and opportunities to intervene before disease takes hold.

Because prevention isn’t optional — it’s essential. 🌱

The most urgent finding wasn’t visible —
but it was everywhere.

🦴 Bone health emerged as the single most critical concern:

• 70% of women in the yellow zone (osteopenia risk)
• 15% in the red zone, especially menopausal and elderly women

Widespread vitamin D and calcium deficiency signals a looming risk of fractures, immobility, and loss of independence — unless addressed now.
Bone health is not optional.

It is foundational to a woman’s quality of life.

Prevention today protects mobility tomorrow.

Most healthcare arrives after damage is done.
This didn’t. 👀✨

In Bijaypur, Karnataka, prevention took the lead as doctors from HDR Healthcare Foundation, guided by Dr. Hema Divakar and Dr. Vidya Thobbi, brought timely screening, awareness, and care directly to women who need it most. 👩‍⚕️🤍

Because when we act early, we don’t just treat disease —
we protect futures. ⏳❤️

This is why prevention always wins.

This is healthcare with purpose. 🌱

A single vaccine can change a woman’s future. 💉✨
And when healthcare reaches her before illness does, it becomes empowerment.

At HDR Healthcare Foundation, preventive care doesn’t wait inside hospital walls — it walks into communities, listens, educates, and protects. 🩺❤️

From awareness to action, from science to compassion, this is what real impact looks like.

Because prevention isn’t just medicine.

It’s dignity.
It’s choice.
It’s a healthier tomorrow for every woman. 👩‍⚕️🌸

Watch how healthcare truly meets humanity — one woman, one step, one life at a time. 🌍💪
