Robotic Thyroidectomy Without Neck Scar | Advanced Thyroid Surgery Explained by Dr. Athira Ramakrishnan

Imagine having your thyroid tumor removed and no visible scar on your neck. That is the advantage of robotic thyroidectomy.

In this video, Dr. Athira Ramakrishnan explains how robotic thyroid surgery allows surgeons to remove thyroid tumors using small, hidden incisions in the armpit or chest, instead of a large cut across the neck.

Robotic thyroidectomy offers:

No visible neck scar

3D magnified, high-definition vision

Enhanced precision with wristed robotic instruments

Better preservation of critical nerves and parathyroid glands

Faster recovery and early return to normal life

At KIMS MACS Center, this technique—known as RABID robotic thyroidectomy—has evolved beyond cosmetic benefits. It is now successfully used for thyroid cancer surgery and even large thyroid swellings, offering both safety and precision.

Robotic surgery does not replace the surgeon.
It enhances the surgeon’s skill, allowing millimeter-level precision and better functional outcomes for patients.

If you are considering thyroid surgery in Bangalore or India, this video helps you understand modern, minimally invasive options.

Laryngeal (Voice Box) Cancer Symptoms & Prevention | Early Signs Explained by Dr. Abhilasha Sadhoo | Bangalore

In this video, Dr. Abhilasha Sadhoo, Head & Neck Onco Surgeon, explains laryngeal cancer (voice box cancer)—its early symptoms, risk factors, and prevention—as part of a dedicated laryngeal cancer awareness series in Bangalore, India.

The larynx (voice box) plays a vital role in speech, breathing, and swallowing. Laryngeal cancer often begins silently and most commonly affects the vocal cords (glottis), where persistent hoarseness is often the earliest warning sign.

This video covers:

What laryngeal (voice box) cancer is

Anatomy of the larynx: supraglottis, glottis, and subglottis

Early symptoms such as hoarseness lasting more than 3 weeks

Warning signs including chronic cough, difficulty swallowing, ear pain, neck lumps, breathing difficulty, and voice changes

Major risk factors such as to***co smoking, chewing to***co, alcohol use, HPV infection, age above 55, and lifestyle habits

Nearly 90% of laryngeal cancers are lifestyle-related, which means prevention works. Quitting to***co, limiting alcohol, HPV vaccination (under 45), and a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables can significantly reduce cancer risk.

If you are in Bangalore or anywhere in India and experiencing persistent voice or throat symptoms, do not ignore them. Early screening is painless, effective, and life-saving.

Your voice often gives the first warning.
Early detection saves your voice, your function, and your life.

Ulcerative Colitis & Colon Cancer Risk | Dr. Sandeep Nayak |

In this video, Dr. Sandeep Nayak explains how ulcerative colitis increases the risk of colon cancer and what can be done to reduce this risk.

Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the colon. Continuous inflammation damages the inner lining of the colon, leading to dysplasia, an abnormal growth pattern that can progress to cancer over time.

Key points covered:

Why long-standing ulcerative colitis increases colon cancer risk

How longer disease duration and wider colon involvement raise the risk

Why colon cancers in ulcerative colitis can develop faster

The importance of strict medical control of inflammation

Why regular colonoscopy screening is essential

For patients with ulcerative colitis lasting more than 8 years, colonoscopy is recommended every 2–3 years to detect changes early and prevent serious disease.

With proper treatment and consistent screening, the risk of colon cancer can be significantly reduced.

What Is Theranostics? | Personalized Cancer Treatment Explained – Dr. Gayana Shankar Murthy

In this video, Dr. Gayana Shankar Murthy, Director – Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics at KIMS Hospitals, Bangalore, explains theranostics, a personalized approach that combines cancer diagnosis and treatment using the same molecular targets.

Theranostics uses PET-CT imaging to identify cancer and targeted alpha or beta emitters to treat it. This approach is used in thyroid cancer, prostate cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors, offering precise treatment with minimal side effects.

Highly targeted, personalized, and measurable—theranostics represents the future of cancer care.

Choosing the Right Thyroid Surgery | Dr Sandeep Nayak |

The type of thyroid surgery chosen depends entirely on the nature of the disease being treated.

In this video, we explain the two main types of thyroid surgery and when each is recommended.

Total Thyroidectomy
This is the preferred surgery for most thyroid cancers. Removing the entire thyroid gland makes follow-up easier and allows doctors to complete treatment and monitoring more effectively.

Hemithyroidectomy (Partial Thyroidectomy)
This involves removing only the affected half of the thyroid gland. It is usually offered for benign thyroid conditions or very small thyroid cancers, typically those less than 1 cm in size.

Understanding the difference between these procedures helps patients make informed decisions and feel confident about their treatment plan.

Always discuss surgical options with your treating surgeon to choose what is best for your condition.

Your Daily Choices: The Silent Game Changer Against Cancer

Imagine hearing the word breast cancer and realizing your first question isn’t “Will I live?” but “Will I lose my breast?”
Today, for many women, the answer is no.

In this video, Dr Bharath explains breast-conserving surgery (BCS)—also known as lumpectomy or partial mastectomy—and how it is changing the way we treat early-stage breast cancer.

Breast-conserving surgery removes the tumor along with a small rim of healthy tissue, while preserving the rest of the breast. The goal is to achieve clear margins, ensuring effective cancer control while maintaining natural breast shape as much as possible.

For appropriately selected early-stage breast cancers, large clinical trials and modern studies show that breast-conserving surgery followed by radiotherapy provides survival outcomes equal to—or in some cases better than—mastectomy, without high-risk features.

During surgery, nearby lymph nodes may also be evaluated using a sentinel lymph node biopsy. Most patients return home the same day, resume light activities soon, and recover faster compared to more extensive surgery.

Breast-conserving surgery is not “less” treatment—it is precise, evidence-backed treatment, usually combined with planned radiotherapy to ensure strong local control.

Every breast, every cancer, and every woman’s priorities are different. Speak to your cancer care team to understand whether breast-conserving surgery is right for you—and what it means for your survival, your body, and your life.

Your body. Your options. Your choice.
Breast-conserving surgery: Evidence-backed. Life-honoring.

Understanding your surgical options is the first step toward a successful recovery. In this video, we break down the two main types of thyroid surgery:

✅ Total Thyroidectomy: The removal of the entire thyroid gland.
✅ Hemithyroidectomy: The removal of one lobe plus the isthmus (the bridge connecting the two sides).

Each case is unique, and the choice depends on the specific diagnosis and health goals of the patient.
