🔱 Verse 13 — The Fragrant Offering of Mahālakṣmī
Sanskrit Shloka:
īśa-dalasthā bhairavam-arcayate parimalair-vicitrairyā /
praṇamāmi sarvadā tāṁ ghrāṇābhikhyāṁ mahālakṣmīṁ // 13 //
🌺 💮 "I eternally bow to Mahālakṣmī — the very embodiment of divine fragrance, who resides in the North-East direction (Īśāna corner) and worships Lord Bhairava in the heart-lotus with the most exquisite scents and perfumes."
In this tender and poetic verse, Abhinavagupta leads us into the realm of smell — ghrāṇa, the subtlest and most evocative of all senses. The Goddess Mahālakṣmī, resplendent in divine radiance, is portrayed as the energy behind our sense of smell. She doesn’t merely bless us with material abundance, but also elevates our experiences through sublime fragrances — the sweet scent of devotion, the perfume of presence.
Situated in the Īśāna corner, known as the abode of ultimate purity and spiritual awakening, Mahālakṣmī represents the auspicious beginning of all sensory experiences. As we breathe in the world, she offers each fragrant moment to Bhairava, turning something as simple as inhalation into an act of worship.
✨ This verse whispers to us:
Even the scent in the air, the aroma of flowers, incense, earth after rain — all are silent offerings made by the divine within us to the Supreme within our heart.
The message here is profound — our senses are sacred, and when aligned with awareness, each one becomes a tool for devotion. Smell, though invisible, lingers the longest — just like the subtle impact of spiritual presence.
🕉️ Mahālakṣmī, thus, is not just the Goddess of external wealth, but the one who sanctifies even the breath with divine remembrance.
🌼 🔱 "जो ईशान कोण में स्थित हैं, जो सुगंधों की विविधता से भैरव की पूजा करती हैं — उन घ्राण शक्ति रूपा महालक्ष्मी को मैं सदा नमन करता हूँ।"
इस श्लोक में आचार्य अभिनवगुप्त हमें सुगंध के दिव्य अनुभव की ओर ले जाते हैं। घ्राण शक्ति, जो हमारी सूक्ष्मतम इंद्रियों में से एक है, यहां महालक्ष्मी देवी के रूप में प्रकट होती है।
देवी महालक्ष्मी केवल धन-संपत्ति की अधिष्ठात्री नहीं हैं — वे हमारी हर श्वास को पूजन में परिवर्तित कर देती हैं। फूलों की सुगंध, चंदन का लेप, गीली मिट्टी की खुशबू — यह सब उनके द्वारा भैरव को समर्पित दिव्य पुष्प हैं।
ईशान कोण, जो कि परम शुद्धता और अध्यात्म का केंद्र है, वहां विराजमान महालक्ष्मी हमें यह स्मरण कराती हैं कि हर श्वास, हर सुगंध, यदि जागरूकता से की जाए, तो वह भक्ति का स्वरूप बन जाती है।
✨ यह श्लोक हमें सिखाता है —
"हमारी देह की इंद्रियाँ देवियाँ हैं, और जब उन्हें श्रद्धा और समर्पण से जोड़ा जाता है, तो वे स्वयम् ईश्वर को अर्पण हो जाती हैं।"
🌺 महालक्ष्मी यहां घ्राण की शक्ति बनकर, हमारे भीतर की भक्ति को सुगंधमयी बनाकर भैरव को अर्पण करती हैं।
🕉️ उनका यह रूप — अदृश्य, लेकिन सदा विद्यमान, हमें आंतरिक समृद्धि और चेतना की सुंदरता का अनुभव कराता है।
