Why you need pelvic floor exercises in pregnancy❓❓

You need to strengthen the pelvic floor and also learn to relax those muscles so that they can move through full range of motion.

Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles helps in
➑️ Supporting the weight of growing uterus

➑️ Reduces the chances of developing incontinence ( which means you do not have to worry about peeing your pants)

➑️ Helps in faster recovery postpartum.

Along with strengthening you need to be able to relax those muscles as well.

This is because the uterus pushes the baby out and the pelvic floor muscles need to move out of the way for which it is important for them to be able to relax.

"Stop doing crunches after birth, they are bad for you."

Is this something that you hear often??

Well I am here to tell you that crunches are not the bad guy.

After giving birth your core is weak, as crunches only Target the outer abs there is an increased abdominal pressure which can worsen the diastasis recti.

To avoid this you need to learn how to engage your deep core which is a corset like muscles that supports our body and helps regain our core strength.

Once you learn how to engage your deep core muscles and manage the abdominal pressure you can definitely add crunches back to your routine.

🌟 The golden hour 🌟

The 1st hour after birth is crucial for both mother and baby.

During this time the oxytocin levels are high which is important for contractions of uterus and birth of placenta.

This is also a crucial time to help bond with the baby through skin to skin contact.

To help enhance the oxytocin levels during this hour make sure this time is uninterrupted. You can dim lights and make the room as quiet as possible.

Top tip : To make the most of the golden hour prepare for it as you would prepare for birth and convey your needs to your health care provider.

Round ligaments support the uterus on both sides.

As your pregnancy progresses these ligaments stretch and become thicker to support the growing belly.

Sometimes these ligaments stretch and pull on the adjacent nerves which can cause sharp shooting pain on one or both sides of your belly or groin region.

This is the round ligament pain which is a very common discomfort in pregnancy.

Here are 5 things that you can try to relieve round ligament pain:

πŸ’œ Swimming- the natural buoyancy of water makes you feel light and can help relieve the pain.

πŸ’œ Gentle stretches but make sure not to overdo it

πŸ’œ Warm baths and heating pad

πŸ’œ A bad posture can put excess loads on some muscles making them tensed, hence always try and be mindful of your posture.

πŸ’œ Loads of rest.

Here are 5 ways you can naturally induce labor :-

1. S*X - Helps release oxytocin which helps with contractions. Also s***m contains prostaglandins that can help stimulate the cervix for labor.

2. EXERCISE - Movement and walking can help open up your pelvis and get baby into optimal position for birth.

3. DATES - are said to help ripen the cervix and prepare for birth.

4. NI**LE STIMULATION - Again helps release oxytocin which is essential for contractions. You can start by gently rubbing or rolling your ni***es 3 times a day.

5. WARM BATHS AND MASSAGES - Helps body relax and release stress.

‼️ Before trying to naturally induce labor confirm that your baby has reached 39 weeks of gestation and consult with your doctor.

‼️ Self induce labor techniques are not scientifically proven.
These 5 techniques are meant to release 2 hormones essential for labor that is oxytocin and prostaglandins.

❌ Beware of certain techniques like eating spicy food or castor oil as these can have side effects and can cause unpleasant digestive tract.
