The art and science of yoga is not limited to only Aasanas or postures. these are only a part of the macrocosmos of the world of yoga. 👩‍🏫

Yoga is mainly divided into 4 major parts -

1) Karma - It is the yoga of action, the path of selfless service. 🙌
2) Bhakti - It is the devotional approach of yoga, the one of pure love. 🙇‍♀️
3) Raja - This is the scientific, step-by-step approach of yoga, the one of mind control. 👨‍🔬
4) Jnana - This is the philosophical approach to yoga, the yoga of knowledge. 💭

Each of these are but parts of the whole, in essence they are the same and lead to the same destination. 🌌✨

It is only that a certain aspect of life is embodied in each path.🌈🎴

Mental Health and Ayurveda -

Mental health is an often overlooked aspect of well being in society which in recent times is being given its due importance and the stigma around mental health too has begun to be lifted! ❤️🌈

Modern methods of Psychotherapy are boons to mankind and seeking a therapist in order to effectively cultivate and manage our mental health is always recommended. 🍃🍁

From an Ayurvedic standpoint the basic treatment modality for mental health is explained as Satvavaja Chikitsa which encompirses of 3 things -

1) Jnayotppati(Educating or creating awareness) as many mental disorders are believed to rise out of Pragynapradadha (Misunderstandings) 👩‍🏫
2) Dhi - Memory oriented therapy 🌌
3)Dharya - Improving one's self-esteem by giving them strength to face life 💪

These 3 are carried out by 5 steps -
1)Chinta(Provoking the thoughts of the individual) 🤔
2)Vichara (Discussion) 💬
3)Uhuhya(Hypothesis) 👩‍🔬
4)Ghehya(Inferencing) ⚛️
5)Sankalpa (Pledging towards healthy mind) 🧠

Great mental well being is of utmost importance and is something all human beings should have the opportunity to participate in.

The world can always use more love, understanding, and empathy.

प्राणायामेन युक्तेन, सर्वरोगक्षयो भवेत् |
अयुक्ताभ्यासयोगेन, सर्वरोगस्य संभवः ||
By proper Pranayama, all diseases can be cured, by improper practice, all diseases are possible.

Pranayama is a system of techniques used to harness and manipulate universal energy known as prana.
It is an integral aspect of yoga, often incorporated into asana practice or used as a preliminary step for meditation. 🕉️🙇🏻

The term is derived from several Sanskrit roots; prana meaning “vital life force,” yama meaning “control'' and ayama meaning “extension” or “expansion. 🌌✨

The breath is symbolic of prana, and pranayama can be understood as methods to extend and expand vital life force energy through the deliberate control of respiration. 🌬️🙌🏻

Breathe consciously. 🌅🙇‍♂️

Breathe with awareness. 🌄🙇‍♀️

Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” 🌸🌈

Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” 🌳🌏

It stems from the ancient Vedic culture and was taught for many thousands of years in an oral tradition from accomplished masters to their disciples. 👨‍🏫👂

Some of this knowledge was set to print a few thousand years ago, but much of it is inaccessible. 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♀️

First appearing in the ancient Sanskrit text the Rig Veda, Yoga is an intricate science largely misunderstood in modern times. 🙇‍♀️

Nowadays the term Yoga is mostly associated with Aasanas or poses when in reality they are but only one aspect of this beautiful practice. 🕉️

To put it very very simply, unity is what Yoga walks us toward. 🌌

Union of individual consciousness with universal consciousness,; Union of mind body, and soul; Union of man with nature. 🌎

Oneness then is what can be experienced through this path. 🌲💫

Diet Guidlines as per the Charaka Samhita -

The Charaka Samhita is believed to have arisen around 400-200 BCE. It is felt to be one of the oldest and the most important ancient authoritative writings on Ayurveda. 📚📖

In the Charaka Samhita guidelines have been outlined on various topics including healthy eating, we share some of these powerful words with you today. 🙌

Why must food be eaten hot? ♨️

Food the text says must be eaten hot so as to aid in quick digestion and healthy absorption. Cold food requires more energy in order to be digested whereas hot food is less taxing on the bodies digestion process. 😊🤰
