Growing In Nature

Growing In Nature We Connect Children to Nature for Healthy and Happy futures. Like us for some inspiring updates on Nature Connection She discovered something curious.

GRIN was born in Janani’s mind when she was 18 and still working with ArtyPlantz. She had always been passionate about plants and nature and had the opportunity to work with many people in her role at AP. As Green Connect Leader, she was spearheading many initiatives to Connect People to Plants. Every time she conducted a program with adults in it, they always told her how grateful they were to go back to how connected they were as children. How they felt young and alive again. This observation took her on a journey into herself and an ethnographic study of those around her. The result of this search was clear. If a human does not get the opportunity to Grow in Nature when they are young, they will never build a foundation to fall back on later. If a child does not get Nature, he or she will struggle to find health and happiness later in life. With the message coming through so clearly, she couldn’t ignore it. From there, the path was clear and what’s more, on the way, fellow travelers have joined in. Together, they are on a mission to make sure the next generation of Indians to become citizens will be given the space and opportunity to grow in nature. There are many people working towards making Earth sustainable, saving our forests, getting back to the land and GRIN wishes to make sure the next generation knows what nurtures them and how they need to protect it. GRIN is being incubated by ArtyPlantz

with and water

The school year has wound to a close. As we document some of our work this past year, we found these fun moments. Maybe we should drop what we are going and go out and play 😁
- Face painting! Mud is perfectly safe to put on your skin. Even better than a whole lot of creams we use.
- dance drawing on Sandy surfaces. Try drawing with parts of your body that are not your fingers
- find ways of separating soil into various sized particles. Anyone done this at parks as a child?
- find out who lives in the soil. Who hides in those cute little holes?
- dig a hole. It could be to bury treasure, to start a compost pit, to plant or to build a frog pond!

What games can you think of with a bucket of water and some soil?
