Ovulation is the release of an egg from the o***y.. The chance of natural pregnancy is highest when s***ms are present in the female ge***al tract in the 3-4 days before ovulation.

There are several ways to detect ovulation in a woman. One of the reliable methods includes ultrasound scanning.

Serial scans from the beginning of the menstrual cycle can follow the growth of follicle in the o***y and its collapse in the o***y which confirms ovulation.

But ovulation does not always indicate pregnancy. The Pregnancy test needs to be done 12-14 days later to confirm it.

One common question I get as a fertility specialist - Which is the best position to have intersperse while trying for a pregnancy ..

The chances of pregnancy is the same in any position as long as the s***ms are deposited inside the v@gina around the time of ovulation - release of egg from the o***y .

Ovulation happens around mid cycle in a woman with regular cycles, usually 14 days before the next expected cycle date. Timing is more important than position.

So do not take stress in thinking about the unimportant aspects. Concentrate on the matters that matter.

Everybody who goes through IVF wish for success in the first attempt. The reality is that it may not be the case for everybody going through this procedure.

Several factors determine the success rate. Some are modifiable with certain interventions and some are not.

We should shift our focus towards the modifiable factors and work on it to improve the success rate.

Understanding these factors is important. Ask your doctor for these factors and improve your pregnancy chances in the first attempt of IVF, when indicated.

This couple came all the way from Davanagere, had an abortion 7 years ago and were married for 10 years. Desperate to have a live birth.

5 cycles IUI had failed. They wanted to undergo IVF.
Pre medication was started. They wanted to try ovulation induction, one last cycle before going for IVF.

Their last hope to have a baby was IVF.

She did not get her cycle on the date she expected. She thoughts it’s the pre- medication. She missed her period by 1 week,

Came to us with having missed her cycles the first time. Voila.. her UPT - urine pregnancy test was positive - the 2 dark lines.

The rise in beta HCG was excellent. On Ultrasoud, 2 weeks later, the heart beat was seen.

She had an u eventful pregnancy and by grace of god, she delivered a healthy child in her home town. The proud parents sent a picture if their newborn to us.

Multiple factors affect the chances of a successful pregnancy. Some factors like age, ethnicity, genetics cannot be altered as per our wish.

PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome has different presentations. One if the common symptom seen in women with PCOS is irregular cycles. When the cycle length is > 35 days, it is called irregular cycles. Certain interventions may regularise the cycles in women with irregular cycles.

Some couples come for pre conception follow up. This appointment is scheduled when they think - OK, let’s have a baby.. This visit I’d used to carry out the basic tests in the male and female partner and ensure that the reports are within normal limits.

Some couple feel that they will not have any problem in getting pregnant. It works in 85% of couples.
