This was indeed a pleasure to see on Google today! 😊 This dear patient was misdiagnosed and had gotten no relief with prior meds and taken third opinion with me recently. A case of Referred otalgia (pain in the ear that's coming from elsewhere!)
He finally felt better and dropped this review without anyone from our team asking for it 😇
There's no bigger joy than when the patient puts their trust in you and you do your best for them!
Me getting the diagnosis and treatment right isn't a testament of what was given was wrong, but simply that the history taking in this case was inadequate and the patient was being misdiagnosed simply because of that 😅 what a pity!
Lesson: Never ever ever discredit history taking! It's the most important tool in a clinicians' armamentarium.. No matter how long it takes, no matter how annoying it can be sometimes, remember to take it well and that's the most important part of clinical management.
Side note: This also makes the patient feel heard so sometimes that itself is the reassurance they need to begin with! 😇😇

World sleep day! The one day that medicos more than anyone else should be jolted about- The importance of sleep and the importance of recognising sleep disorders early along with seeking appropriate treatment is something that's rarely spoken of!
In general, 50-70million worldwide suffer from some or the other form of sleep disorders and these are the recorded numbers! How can we not be talking about this!
Let's work to increase our awareness about sleep and health and uphold the 2024 theme of world sleep day being: 'Sleep equity for global health'
And for all my fellow medicos let's remember *Sleep isn't waste of time* and pay a tad bit of attention to our sleep quality and cycle alongside the trillion other tasks we do for public welfare! Remember a healthy we'll slept doctor means triple the number of healthy lives ✅
