Every cancer journey is personal.
And when it affects a child, it touches an entire family.

On World Cancer Day, we pause to create awareness about retinoblastoma - a rare but serious childhood eye cancer. Often, the earliest signs are subtle. A white reflex in the eye, a squint, or a change that may seem easy to overlook.

Yet, early recognition and timely medical attention can be life-saving and vision-preserving.

At Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre, we believe awareness is the first step toward protection - of sight, of childhood, and of futures yet to unfold.
Because informed action, guided by compassion and care, can change outcomes.

From Dubai to Kerala, and finally to Bengaluru - this journey wasn’t taken lightly.

When faced with cataract concerns, Mr. Thomas Matthew consulted doctors across regions. But when it came to choosing where to place his trust, he looked for more than just treatment. He looked for confidence, clarity, and care.

Guided by a personal recommendation, he chose Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre.

Grateful for stories that reaffirm why patient-first care always matters.

When Mr. Chittaranjan walked into Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre, his world had begun to blur. Everyday tasks were becoming difficult, and reading was no longer effortless.

A detailed examination revealed cataract in both eyes. The surgeries were planned carefully, performed in stages, and guided by what would suit his daily life best.

Throughout his journey, he noticed the hygienic environment, the professionalism of the team, and the quiet reassurance of personal care.

Based on his needs, Dr. Samina Zamindar recommended the micro-mono lens option. Today, he can read comfortably again and move through his day with renewed confidence.

Stories like his remind us that restoring vision is not just about surgery - it’s about trust, clarity, and care at every step.

Eye care touches everyday life in ways we often take for granted. Yesterdat, The highlighted how timely, structured, and appropriate eye care can make a meaningful difference to learning, work, independence, and overall quality of life.

What many people may not realise is that nearly 60% of blindness can be avoided with early detection and timely treatment. Preventive eye care, including annual eye check-ups after the age of 40, plays a critical role in identifying conditions before they affect daily living.

As the need for preventive and long-term eye care continues to grow - especially for children and vulnerable communities - approaches that combine clinical care with compassion and accessibility become increasingly important. The article also touches upon childhood myopia, a growing public health concern, and the need for early awareness and monitoring.

This journey is shaped by the dedication of the doctors and clinical teams at Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre. We are especially thankful to Dr. Samina Zamindar, CMD, for her guidance and commitment to patient-friendly and responsible care models.

The Zamindar team is proud to be part of this ongoing dialogue, contributing - step by step to the larger effort of eliminating avoidable blindness.

Do take a moment to read the article and reflect on the conversation it opens 🌟

Your eyes often reveal more than just how well you can see.

They can reflect your lifestyle, daily habits, nutritional balance, and sometimes even underlying systemic health conditions.
Subtle signs such as twitching, redness, dryness, cloudiness, or blurred vision are often overlooked or dismissed as temporary discomfort. However, these changes may indicate eye strain, fatigue, screen overuse, nutritional deficiencies, or conditions that require timely medical attention.

At Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre, we believe eye care goes beyond treating symptoms. Our approach focuses on understanding the cause - combining clinical expertise, advanced diagnostics, and personalised care to ensure every patient receives the right guidance at the right time.

Early evaluation plays a crucial role in preserving vision and preventing long-term complications. Listening to what your eyes may be telling you today can help protect your vision for tomorrow.

Some achievements go beyond publication. They reflect years of intent, values, and lived practice.. 🌿

Proud to share that Dr. Samina F Zamindar, Founder & Chief Medical Director of Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre, has authored the Guest Editorial “Importance of Effective Communication and Empathy in Eyecare”, published in the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (January 2026).

In a world increasingly driven by technology, this piece brings the focus back to something timeless - the human connection between a caregiver and a patient. From the first 30 seconds that build trust, to the power of listening without distraction, to the role of empathy in informed consent, safety, and outcomes - the editorial reminds us that healing begins long before treatment does.

The article highlights:
- Why patients heal better when they feel heard.
- How empathy can (and must) be taught within medical teams.
- The importance of transparency, shared decision-making, and avoiding “never-words” in difficult conversations.
- Building patient-centric systems where communication is as critical as clinical excellence.

A meaningful contribution to the larger conversation on patient safety, trust, and compassionate care and a reminder that excellence in healthcare lies not just in skill, but in presence.

Through our work with knowledge sharing platform "Eye for Quality", "Seva Foundation" & CAHO, Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre is open for observation and training in safe practices.

Our doors are always open for professionals in eyecare and hospital management !

*Some conversations are not routine - they are necessary.*

The webinar “Enhancing Patient Safety in Eye Care - Role of Optometrists”, held on 8th January 2026, was one such timely and meaningful initiative that brought together voices from across ophthalmology, optometry, education, and patient care.

With close to 200 registrations, the response clearly reflected how keen the eye-care community is to engage in conversations that go beyond day-to-day practice, conversations that address responsibility, safety, collaboration, and the future of eye care.

This initiative was made possible through the collective efforts of Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre, in collaboration with the Indian Optometric Association, M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, and the International Eye Care Alliance - organisations that came together with a shared intent to strengthen dialogue and understanding across the eye-care ecosystem.

The webinar featured a distinguished group of speakers and panelists:
* Dr. Namrata Sharma, Chairman – Scientific Committee, All India Ophthalmological Society
* Dr. Samina Zamindar, Chief Medical Director, Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre
* Dr. Rajeev Prasad, Senior Optometrist & Secretary General, Indian Optometric Association
* Mr. Avinash V. Prabhu, Assistant Professor – Optometry, Department of Allied Health Sciences, M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences
* Dr. Mohita Sharma, General Secretary, Women Ophthalmologists Society (WOS)
* Dr. Pradnya Sriram, Senior Ophthalmic Anaesthetist

Together, the discussion touched upon critical aspects of contemporary eye care - the burden of avoidable blindness, the evolving role of optometrists, ethical responsibility, training and education, global learnings, and the importance of working cohesively to ensure patient safety.

What stood out through the dialogue was clear and compelling:

- Patient safety cannot be addressed in isolation or silos.
- Eye care today demands stronger integration between education, clinical practice, and ethics.
- The role of optometrists is expanding and must be supported with clarity, trust, and responsibility.
- Collaboration is no longer optional; it is essential
