The descent -
After 8 days of ascent, we began our descent on 17th Oct. 2025. As is the norm, descent is generally fast-paced. We covered a distance of around 15 km on this day and reached Pheriche, the place of our stay for the night.
From Pheriche the next day, we further descended to Namche Bazaar covering a distance of around 18 km and, on the next day, returned to Lukla covering a distance of 19km
Though descent seems easy, it is fraught with a greater risk of injury than ascent, and it also puts a different type of strain in the knees than climbing. Even though we felt the strain of covering long distances on each day, the joy of having reached EBC successfully helped us keep our energies high. During our descent, we observed silence for one day.
We were very fortunate as we were blessed with good weather throughout the trek.
We felt a sense of fulfillment after reaching Lukla as we had completed the trek successfully. I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to our Guru Shri Vinay Siddaiah for having organised this silent trek and giving all of us this opportunity to enjoy such a unique and rare physical, emotional and spiritual experience which each one of us will cherish for a lifetime.

Day 7 took us from Dingboche to Lobuche — a stretch where the mountains revealed just how high we had climbed. We moved above the treeline, watching even the last shrubs disappear as the terrain turned harsher and more silent. The ascent tested our grit, but daily Prāṇāyāma led by Guru Shri Vinay Siddaiah helped us adapt to the altitude, keeping our minds steady and our breath strong. By the time we reached Lobuche at 4910m, we knew we were in the final leg of the climb.

Day 8 was the day we had all been waiting for — the final push to Everest Base Camp. The last 3 km from Gorakshep were steep, windy and extremely demanding, but our excitement carried us forward. Standing at EBC was overwhelming: glaciers all around, the peak of Everest rising in the background, and a deep sense of accomplishment washing over us. Many of us couldn’t hold back our tears. We were happy to carry the flag of Indian Yoga Association IYA Karnataka as well to the everest base camp. We ended the day at Gorakshep in –15°C, sleeping with full hearts and the contentment of a dream fulfilled.

🏔️ EBC Trail Stories — Climb & Acclimatize (Days 5 & 6)
On Day 5, every step felt like we were walking deeper into the Himalayas’ quiet power.
Day 6 offered a pause — acclimatization, gentle walks, and moments to truly take in where we were.
These days were a blend of challenge and stillness.

Tengboche offers a 360-degree panoramic view of snowclad peaks that surround it from all sides. The 5th day of the trek started with a visit to Tengboche Monastery, a Buddhist monastery in Tengboche, where we were blessed with the opportunity to listen to the chanting of Buddhist mantras and watch Buddhist puja, in these silent and peaceful Himalayan environs. Witnessing this, especially when we were practicing silence since the previous day, gave us one of its kind spiritual and devotional experiences.
With much hesitation, we proceeded with our trek towards our next stop, which was Dingboche.
After covering a distance of around 11km, we reached Dingboche.

The 6th day of the trek was reserved for acclimatization. Acclimatization mostly involves gaining some altitude during the daytime and returning to lower altitudes to rest. On this day, we climbed the mountain close by, gaining almost 300 meters in altitude, and returning to Dingboche to rest, all the while maintaining silence. During the descent from this mountain top, our Guruji Shri Vinay Siddaiah led us into another session of meditation. After that, we were allowed to break silence and communicate with each other. On this day, we were also blessed with some good sunshine, and all of us enjoyed the luxury of some much needed physical cleansing, too. The rest of the day was spent in Dingboche with a visit to a nearby cafe and enjoying the scenic beauty Dingboche had to offer.

Day 3:
The third day of the trek was reserved for acclimatization. The need for acclimatization could not be over emphasized when undertaking high altitude treks. On this day, we trekked to a nearby mountain top on which there was a hotel aptly named as Hotel Everest View. It is from here that we saw the peak of the mighty Mt.Everest for the first time during the trek. This reinvigorated each one of us for the upcoming part of the trek. That night, Mr.Bajrang entertained us with his amazing drumming performance, setting the rhythm for the next day.

Day 4:
On the fourth day of the trek , we continued our ascent towards EBC, starting from Namche Bazaar and reaching Tengboche.
It is said that the Himalayas are regions of enormous spiritual energy. On this day during the first half, we had the exclusive privilege of meditating amidst the Himalayas. The meditation was led by our guru Mr. Vinay. Post meditation Vinay initiated the silent part of trek wherein all of us were advised to stay silent and not talk to anyone for any reason for the next two days. The purpose of the silent trek and the meditation was to take us on a journey within so that we could discover more about ourselves and find answers to questions within.
This also helped us to retain and lengthen the mental, emotional, and psychological state we had reached during the meditation.

This day's trek involved one of the difficult sections of the trek as it involved an initial descent and a steep ascent post lunch. Though all of us were tired by the time we reached Tengboche, the serene environs coupled with the breathtaking view of the clear night skies at Tengboche provided all of us much needed relief, both physical and mental.

Oct 9th, 2025 — The D-Day.
Day 1 of the trek began with a thrilling flight from Ramechhap to Lukla. The early morning flight offered exhilarating glimpses of snow-clad peaks, adding to the excitement in the air.

Upon landing in Lukla, we were relieved that the flight was uneventful and safe — given the notoriety attached to Lukla airport — yet equally nervous and excited, as the trek was about to begin, quite literally.

The trek we had each meticulously planned and prepared for over the past few months finally started from Lukla — the gateway to the Solukhumbu region.

Day 1 ended with us reaching Phakding, covering a distance of 9 km.
On Day 2, we trekked from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, covering another 10 km.

The distant Himalayan peaks and the pine forests of Sagarmatha National Park kept us so amazed and overawed that we barely felt any strain or fatigue after the first two days of the trek.
