"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all of your thoughts break their bonds, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be." - Patanjali

Our core focus at Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SSCHRC) is to serve, treat and rehabilitate patients suffering from cancer. We at SSCHRC also believe that there is a great need to focus on prevention of cancer through cancer awareness initiatives and research both in community environment and also in the laboratories. The objectives of establishing this charitable cancer hospital is to :

- Provide state-of-the-art treatment to all cancer patients at affordable costs irrespective of caste, creed, and socio-economic status.

-To offer free treatment to the poorest and set aside 10% of beds and services for this purpose.

-To reduce the incidence of cancer in the rural areas and also to detect cancer in early stages through various interventional initiatives.

-To make the treatment affordable by reducing the basic cost of treatment and enable the patients to obtain state-of-the-art contemporary treatment.

-To provide medicines at highly subsidized costs.

-To develop a Centre of Research under eminent scientists and medical professionals so as to drive the research activities towards reducing the cancer burden in the society, improving the treatment standards, and by academically remaining in the cutting edge of science.

-To establish a Paediatric Cancer Centre of International Standards. We are seeking donations from Corporates, Government Agencies and Philanthropic Individuals to help us complete the project at the earliest, and enable us to treat more and more patients suffering from cancer. A Message from Dr. B.S. Srinath — Together, We Can Prevent Cancer

At Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Dr. B.S. Srinath, a leading oncologist and dedicated healthcare leader, shares an important message on cancer prevention and awareness.

He reminds us that cancer can be treated and prevented, and that awareness is the first step toward a healthier community.

“We must face cancer with courage. There is proper treatment for it. It can be prevented. If we all come together, we can keep it away — or fight it and defeat it.”

Dr. Srinath emphasizes that prevention begins with simple, everyday choices — eating safe, chemical-free food, staying active, and living a healthy, responsible life.

Under his guidance, Sri Shankara Hospital has screened more than five lakh people across Karnataka, providing affordable, compassionate, and high-quality cancer care to everyone.

Let’s join hands to protect our families, spread awareness, and work towards a cancer-free India.
Watch the full message to learn how small steps can make a big difference.

“Awareness is the first medicine.”
For over four decades, Dr. B.S. Srinath, Head of Institution and Senior Surgical Oncologist at Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, has been a guiding light in India’s fight against cancer.
On this International Cancer Awareness Day, he reminds us of one powerful truth — suspicion is the key to survival.
“A cough that lingers, a mole that bleeds, unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite — these are signs you must never ignore,” says Dr. Srinath.
When detected early, cancer is often completely curable. But every day of delay gives it strength.
“Don’t carry the burden of guessing. Leave detection to your doctor. Early action saves lives.”
Let’s build a culture where awareness is strength, not fear.
How can you help someone around you take that first step toward screening?

Awareness turns fear into strength.
Cancer doesn’t always start with pain. That's why awareness matters.

This National Cancer Awareness Day, we celebrate knowledge as power, courage as medicine, and hope as healing.

At Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital, every day is about turning awareness into action — through screenings, education, and care that puts humanity first.

Let’s talk, learn, and listen — because when we spread awareness, we save lives.

Tag someone who inspires you to live healthier, braver, and more aware.

When global experts say “This is world-class.”

Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital & Research Centre hosted Ms Laura-Jayne, Speech & Language Therapist from the UK (University of Liverpool), for a focused academic exchange in total glossectomy rehabilitation.

Guided by our Head & Neck team, she observed:

Multidisciplinary surgical-rehabilitation planning

Functional speech & swallowing outcomes post-glossectomy

Patient-centred counselling and follow-up care

Accompanied by Ms Meereen from Kidwai Institute, both visitors commended our world-class practice standards and remarkable functional results achieved at accessible costs.

Together, we explored shared challenges and future collaboration opportunities to advance head & neck cancer rehabilitation.

How do you think global collaboration can shape the future of cancer care?

Advancing cancer care through knowledge and leadership.
At Sri Shankara, we believe excellence in cancer care is built not only in operating rooms, but also in academic forums where science, skill, and shared learning elevate patient outcomes.

On 16 October 2025, Dr. Vishnu Kurpad represented our institution at IASO-NATCON 2025, delivering a comprehensive session on Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) + HIPEC for peritoneal surface malignancies.

CRS removes visible disease. HIPEC targets what eyes can’t see.

A proud moment as we share expertise, strengthen practice, and drive progress in advanced cancer surgery.

Cancer care isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s tailor-made for every life.
At Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, every patient’s story is unique — and so is their treatment. Watch this video by Dr. Avinash(Assistant Medical Superintendent) from Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital to understand how compassionate, coordinated cancer care transforms lives.
We are a quaternary care cancer hospital, offering not only advanced treatment but also deep expertise in research and training.
Our approach combines three core specialties:
Medical Oncology – Chemotherapy and targeted drug therapies.
Surgical Oncology – Precision surgeries for tumour removal.
Radiation Oncology – Cutting-edge radiotherapy for focused treatment.
But what makes us different?
Every case is reviewed by our Tumour Board, where specialists from all three disciplines come together to discuss each patient in detail.
Evidence-based, tailor-made treatment plans — crafted for the individual, not the illness.
What does “personalised care” mean to you when it comes to health?

Redefining Oncology with AI and Expertise

Imagine if cancer could be detected earlier. In oncology, every second counts — and every data point matters. That’s where Artificial Intelligence is changing the game.

We’re proud to share that Dr. Karthik N. Rao (MBBS, MS, MCh, FHNS, FAHNS, FACS), Senior Consultant, Head, Department of Head & Neck Oncology at Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation,
for his recent publication in the Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America (OCNA) —
“Harnessing Artificial Intelligence in Head and Neck Oncology Practice: Data, Diagnosis, and Therapy.”

This groundbreaking work — in collaboration with Yale University, Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Sheffield, and University of Lausanne — explores how AI-driven tools are reshaping cancer care through:
Early and accurate tumour detection
Data-guided treatment planning
Predictive insights for better outcomes

Technology alone can’t heal — it’s when AI supports human expertise that compassion meets precision.

At Sri Shankara, that’s our mission — to turn innovation into empathy, and research into real-world healing.

If breathing feels like a battle, it’s time to get tested.
Watch this video by Dr. Arjun Kashyap (Interventional Pulmonology) from Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital & Research Centre to understand how asthma is diagnosed step by step. We believe accurate diagnosis is the foundation of compassionate care.
Asthma diagnosis isn’t based on symptoms alone. It’s a structured process involving:
Detailed medical history — Identifying triggers, medications, and frequency.
Advanced testing — From chest imaging to Pulmonary Function Tests and Bronchial Provocation Testing.
Clinical examination — Observing signs of allergy, wheezing, or infection.
Each step refines understanding and ensures that treatment is tailored — not trial and error. Precision saves breath. Early diagnosis saves lives.
