As with most cancers, the cause of esophageal cancer isn’t yet known. It’s suspected to be related to abnormalities (mutations) in the DNA of the cells related to the esophagus. These mutations signal the cells to multiply more rapidly than normal cells. These mutations also disrupt the signal for these cells to die when they should. This causes them to accumulate and become tumors.

It is also believed that smoking, heavy alcohol use, and Barrett's esophagus can increase the risk of esophageal cancer.

Gastric cancer (stomach cancer) is when abnormal cells grow in the stomach. It can occur anywhere in the stomach.

The symptoms of Gastric cancer can be similar to many other conditions. What's important to note is not only that these signs and symptoms are happening but also that they are occurring frequently.

Having symptoms on occasion, such as after eating a heavy meal, doesn't mean that gastric cancer is present. Talking to a doctor about any problems with the stomach will help in finding out if there is a reason to get checked out with any tests.

Lung cancer recurrence is generally defined as lung cancer that returns after treatment and following a period of more than three months of remission (in which there is no evidence of the disease). A recurrence may be the same cancer type or occur in the same location as before, or the type and location may be different.

The chance that lung cancer will recur depends on many factors, including the type of cancer involved, the stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis, and how the original malignancy (cancer) was treated.

Thank you "The Economic Times" for the publication.

As people are crowding in the COVID wards, what measures can be taken to ameliorate the existing medical circuitry thus promoting a better framework for a healthier tomorrow?
