Heart surgery can be life-saving and highly effective but it is not always a permanent “cure” for the root cause.

In many cases, recovery does not end after surgery. Medicines, follow-up care, healthy food, exercise, and long-term lifestyle changes all play an important role in protecting your heart.

Understanding the difference between treatment and cure helps patients make better long-term decisions.

Bangalore traffic is known to stop everything. Today, it could not stop hope.

For the first time, a donor heart was transported via Namma Metro to SPARSH Hospital for a heart transplant.

When every second mattered, the city found a new lifeline.
Beyond the traffic, beyond the delays, beyond the odds — this was a journey powered by urgency, teamwork, and one shared purpose: to save a life.

A powerful reminder that sometimes, a city’s fastest route is not just about movement — it is about hope reaching in time.

Not everything you hear about heart surgery is true.
In most cardiac surgeries, the heart stays inside the chest while surgeons operate with advanced precision and support systems.
Let’s replace fear with facts.

As a cardiothoracic surgeon, one of the most heartbreaking things I see is women who waited — because what they felt didn't look like what they saw on TV.
No dramatic chest clutch. No falling to the floor.
Instead, it was…

🔹 Jaw pain they blamed on stress
🔹 Nausea they thought was food poisoning
🔹 Extreme fatigue they called "just being busy"
🔹 Shoulder pain they ignored for weeks

By the time they reached my operating table, precious time had already been lost.

Women are 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed after a heart attack.

Your symptoms don't have to be "textbook" to be real.

Trust your body. Push for answers. Don't wait.

Share this — it could save someone's life.

Your main heart and your calf muscles, often called the second heart, because they pump blood back up from your legs.

Move more. Walk more. Exercise daily.
A healthy second heart supports a healthy first one.

From Heart Transplant to Half Marathon 🫀🏃‍♂️

This isn’t about speed.
This isn’t about timing.
This is about identity.

In just 14 months, a heart transplant survivor is standing at the start line of the Tata Mumbai Marathon not to chase a personal best, but to rewrite what’s possible.

“I’m not focusing on time. I may even stop if needed.”
That one line says everything.

Because real victory isn’t measured in minutes or medals.
It’s measured in courage, discipline, and the refusal to be defined by illness.

From being known as a heart transplant patient
to earning the title of a marathoner
this journey is proof that a new heart can power an entirely new life.

If this doesn’t inspire you to believe in second chances, nothing will. ❤️
