World No To***co Day is observed annually on May 31st, and in 2025, the theme is “Bright Products. Dark Intentions. Unmasking the Appeal.” This campaign, led by the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to expose the deceptive strategies employed by the to***co and ni****ne industries to attract new users, particularly youth and women, through appealing packaging, flavors, and marketing tactics . To***co use remains a leading cause of preventable diseases and deaths worldwide, contributing to various cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory illnesses. Secondhand smoke also poses significant health risks to non-smokers . Actions You Can Take
• Educate Yourself and Others: Learn about the risks associated with to***co use and share this information within your community.
• Support To***co Control Policies: Advocate for stronger regulations on to***co advertising, especially those targeting youth.
• Encourage Quitting: Support friends and family members who are trying to quit to***co by providing resources and encouragement.
• Participate in Awareness Campaigns: Engage in local or online events that promote to***co-free lifestyles.
