15th Convocation of KAHER, Belagavi — June 3, 2025
The 15th Convocation of the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Deemed-to-be-University, Belagavi, was held on June 3, 2025, at the KLE Centenary Convention Centre, JNMC Campus. Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Hon. Chancellor of KAHER and Chairman of the KLE Society, presided over the ceremony, which marked a significant milestone in the university’s journey.
Shri Jagat P. Nadda, Hon. Minister for Health and Family Welfare, delivered the Convocation Address. He highlighted the government’s focus on comprehensive healthcare, emphasizing preventive, palliative, and rehabilitative services. Shri Nadda praised the expansion of medical education, noting a 130% increase in MBBS seats and a 138% rise in postgraduate seats over the past decade. He encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly between medicine and technology.
Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon. Minister of Consumer Affairs and Renewable Energy, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. He lauded KLE Society and Dr. Kore for their dedication to quality education and healthcare in North Karnataka. Shri Joshi also stressed India’s potential to supply skilled health professionals globally.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nitin M. Gangane presented the university’s achievements for 2024-25, underscoring KAHER’s national and international recognition in health sciences education and research. Notably, KLE inaugurated the Jagadguru Gangadhara Mahaswamigalu Moorusavirath Medical College in Hubballi and a 200-bed cancer hospital in Belagavi.
KAHER honored Prof. Dr. Shailesh V. Shrikhande with an Honorary Doctor of Science degree for his outstanding contributions to surgical oncology. Dr. Shrikhande expressed his commitment to lifelong learning and compassionate patient care.
The convocation conferred 1,844 degrees across health science disciplines, including 40 Ph.Ds and 660 postgraduate degrees. Thirty-five students earned 46 Gold Medals for academic excellence.
