In the documentary film ‘The Wisdom of Trauma’, Dr. Gabor Mate, a renowned author and trauma researcher, talks about the importance of looking at childhood trauma more deeply. He explains that while most of us go through traumatic experiences, not all of us are affected by it in similar ways. A huge point of difference in how traumatic experiences affect us, especially as a child, is the kind of support we had while going through those experiences. So saying “oh bad things happen to all of us, just get over it!” is immensely insensitive on a lot of levels because even though they may happen to all of us, their effects are not the same. It is not just about the occurrence of “bad things” but about our experience of having gone through it alone and scared.

To quit a job or not to quit is the question that has been bothering a lot of us in the past few days and honestly, ever since childhood. From "log kya kahenge" to social media ka hustle culture, there seem to be so many deterrents and a lack of overall social acceptance on quitting a job that simply isn't working for us any more.

When Simone Biles took a break to take care of her mental health, many supported her decision and yet, there were many who outrightly condemned it, not that it should have been any of their business.

Amidst all this, we felt that there were many things that demanded a greater engagement and conversation. Here are our thoughts on what quitting entails and why does it make us so uncomfortable. Slide through all the images and do tell us your views in the comments. And tag someone who you think could feel supported by this. 💛

Therapy can be great but it surely comes with its own set of problems. Feeling stuck or stagnant in therapy is more than common. Wrote some of our thoughts on it as persons who have been in these situations ourselves. Have you had a similar experience? Tell us more about it in the comments. We really want to know the different ways in which all of us are negotiating with such circumstances.

Depression and "feeling tired" almost go hand-in-hand, so much so that sometimes it becomes difficult to even understand as to what is causing this level of exhaustion. Depression has our mind working almost constantly and that intensity can be enough to drain out one's energy levels. But that's not just it. There are so many more things surrounding us that make us "feel tired" all the time. Listed some of those here. Do you also feel the same way? If yes, what is making you feel tired? Would definitely want to hear. 💛

Wait. Pause. Loosen your muscles. Unclench your jaw. And just breathe. 💛

Depression is not an aesthetic of earthy undertones and low-fi music. It is not a quirk. It is definitely not a pathway to brooding songwriting. It is messy. It is not pleasing to the eye. It is not a cute goth look. It is an everyday struggle. It is many many things that make us feel ashamed more often than we care to admit. It is disabling. It is different for everybody. It is all this and more.

What are the ways in which depression affects you on a daily basis? Do tell us in the comments!

We continue to receive DMs for counselling help. While we are always here as non-judgemental listeners, we cannot provide counselling. We are not mental health professionals. However, we have been sharing mental health resources that could be helpful. Please go through our stories, story highlights and link in our bio. We realised that a lot of people don’t end up checking stories, so we’re also saving this here.

Sending so much love to all of you!

PS: If you have an unpleasant experience with any professional/service mentioned on our profile, please let us know (if you are comfortable) so that we can remove them from our highlights.
