This virus infects primarily the liver and stays in the body lifelong, if body’s immunity doesn’t clear the infection. Long term infectivity of body with Hepatitis B virus leads to permanent liver damage and can lead to liver cirrhosis or development of liver cancer.
Throughout in the world, hepatitis viruses are the leading cause of liver cirrhosis. Many of these patients with advanced liver cirrhosis require liver transplant.
Timely detection and treatment of hepatitis B infection or Liver Cirrhosis can save the patient’s life and completely cure the body of this virus.

عملية زراعة الكبد للأطفال
تُنقِذ عملية زراعة الكبد حياة العديد من الأطفال وحديثي الولادة، وتُجرى زراعة الكبد للعديد من الأغراض لعلاج حالات مرضية عديدة؛ من أمراض جينية يولد الطفل مصاب بها، أو فشل الكبد نتيجة لأمراض معدية يصاب بها بعد أو أثناء الولادة.

يحصل الطفل على الكبد المستخدم في الزراعة إما من متبرع حي (أحد أفراد عائلة المريض) أو متبرع بعد الوفاة.

تُجرى العديد من الفحوصات للمتبرع قبل العملية للتأكد من سلامته، والتأكد من التوافق بينه وبين المريض، حتى لا يرفض جسم المريض كبد المتبرع.

إذ يهاجم الجهاز المناعي لجسم المريض العضو المتبرع به، ويكون الهجوم عنيف قد يؤدي للوفاة في حالات عدم التوافق.

أما حالات الرفض البسيطة يمكن التغلب عليها عن طريق الأدوية المثبطة للمناعة.

Liver transplantation saves the lives of many children and newborns. Liver transplantation is performed for many purposes to treat many conditions; From genetic diseases that the child is born with, or liver failure as a result of infectious diseases that he develops after or during birth.

The child receives the liver used for transplantation from either a living donor (a member of the patient's family) or a donor after death.

Several tests are conducted for the donor before the operation to ensure his safety, and to ensure compatibility between him and the patient, so that the patient’s body does not reject the donor’s liver.

As the immune system of the patient's body attacks the donated organ, the attack is violent and may lead to death in cases of incompatibility.
