Our Story

Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Bhopal is not only a major cancer cure and care institute in Madhya Pradesh but has also emerged as a leading center in central India. It has attracted nationwide attention and admiration for its excellent services. The institute has become virtually a new "Mecca" of cancer cure and care in Madhya Pradesh. Established in 1995 by a reputed and highly representative duly registered society – Madhya Pradesh Cancer Chikitsa Evam Seva Samiti with large scale public contributions and full support of the State Government, the hospital is marked by state-of-art technology and humanitarian approach in treatment. Lack of specialized treatment facilities in Bhopal despite being the state capital and victim of the biggest industrial disaster in human history known as Bhopal Gas Tragedy, were the main reasons for taking up this stupendous project. The project was completed with missionary zeal. The subsequent years witnessed a steady upgradation and expansion with the result that the institute is gradually assuming the status of a national institute. Considering its comprehensive character and high quality of treatment the State Govt. have accorded special recognition to this hospital and have entrusted a major role in the treatment of cancer and also providing training/teaching to the PG students of Medical Colleges of the state. Patients can also come directly to the hospital i.e. no reference is required from Govt. Hospitals. Govt. of India and several public undertakings have also granted recognition. In this context it may be mentioned that several eminent experts, scientists and dignitaries have expressed unanimous opinion that there is no need for people of M.P. to go outside the state for the treatment of cancers in view of the excellent facilities and best care available in the hospital. Some of them have even described it as one of the best medical institute in the country. The State Govt. have also acknowledge this fact. The hospital strictly observe the international protocol and guidelines in the treatment. Tumour Board comprising of all the consultants meets regularly to decide the treatment stategy as per international guidelines. Situated on the famous Idgah Hills, near T.B. Hospital, the hospital provides complete diagnostic and therapeutic facilities of all cancers through all the modalities such as Radiotherapy, Oncosurgery, Chemotherapy (Medical Oncology), Anaesthesiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radio-diagnosis & Imaging, Pathology, Palliative Care and Community Oncology. All facilities are available under one roof. Besides these the hospital also have the most modern comprehensive Research Department with Animal Lab. facility. Among several state-of-the-art equipments, Nuclear Medicine based e-cam Gamma Camera and latest and most modern Dual Energy Linear Accelerator require special mention because of their tremendous utility and rare availability. Cancer is a non communicable disease, Hence non cancer patients can also make best use of e-cam Gamma Camera without any hesitation. The Pathological and Radio-diagnostic facilities are also open to non cancer patients. This institute is having the latest Spiral C.T Scan which could be used by cancer as well as non cancer patients also.
