Dear friends and Respected Seniors
Today was a special day for me as CMHO Bhopal Dr Prabhakar Tiwari and Honourable Mayor of Bhopal Smt Malti Rai invited me to speak on Menstrual Hygiene amongst children 11-18 years of age who were homeless, destitute and living in the State owned Shaskiya Balika Griha at Nehrunagar, Bhopal.
I taught them about the myths surrounding menstruation and also made them realise that they are God's special creation who can turn the world into a lovely place. Sadly, many of them were abandoned girl children, r**e victims having undergone surgical abortion. It was shocking to know that such a world exists and the children were taking everything so bravely. I also talked to them about handwashing, how to dispose sanitary pads, how to use menstrual cups and distributed sanitary pads.
I repeatedly asked them about their problems and if it was a regular school, a flood of questions would have appeared....but these girls were so quiet as if someone had locked their speech. I was heartbroken.
Friends we are so privileged...let us pledge to give a fraction of our time money love and treatment to these needy children....this was an initiative in which I represented Bhopal OBGYN Society 🙏
