ACL reconstruction is surgery to replace a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) — a major ligament in your knee. ACL injuries most commonly occur during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction — such as basketball, soccer, football, downhill skiing and gymnastics.
Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is a surgical tissue graft replacement of the anterior cruciate ligament, located in the knee, to restore its function after an injury. The torn ligament can either be removed from the knee, or preserved before reconstruction an arthroscopic procedure.
After the ACL surgery, exercises are an important part of your recovery, in addition to a physical therapy program.

About two weeks after surgery, you will be able to start putting some weight on your knee. Your doctor will probably fit you for a knee brace to wear for a few weeks. You will also begin physical therapy between two and four weeks after surgery. These Level 1 exercises should be done
1.Long sitting Towel Calf Stretch
2.Supine Hamstring Stretch
3.Quad sets
4.Ankle pumps
5.Heel Slides
6.Prone hip extension

These exercises should be performed 1-3 times per day, only within pain-free range of motion. Stop the activity if it causes increased pain.
Please consult with your doctor before starting any home exercise program. These exercises should not be done without any supervision and do not replace instructions from your doctor.

Cervical spondylosis can be regarded as a degenerative disorder with abnormal wear of the fibres of the neck (cervical vertebrae – part of the spinal cord near the neck). It is the most common cause of chronic neck pain. Middle-aged people and women are the most likely patients of this disorder.
Aging is the predominant cause of spondylosis, also known as spinal arthritis. We put our bodies through a lot of stress and strain every day, and over the years, this can change the various structures of the spine.
Cervical spondylosis is very common, but its condition worsens with age. About 85% of individuals with age more than 60 years are affected by it. Most people do not have any symptoms of this problem. When symptoms occur, nonsurgical treatments are often effective.

How does Cervical spondylosis Occurs:
A sedentary lifestyle, with little or no exercise for the neck, causes cervical spondylosis when sustained for a long time. Other reasons include being overweight and having diabetes for a long time. When individual ages, your bones, as well as cartilage making up your spine and neck structure, deteriorate.

These reasons may include the following changes:

Disk Dehydration – Spinal discs act as cushioning agents between the spine discs or bones. The spinal discs of most people begin to dry up and shrink while reaching 40 years of age, causing more bone-to-bone contact that should not occur.
Herniated Disc – Old age influences the outer parts of the bone in your spine. This often leads to cracks appearing, leading to embossed (herniated) discs – which allow leakage of internal fluids acting as a cushioning agent. This leaked fluid might cause additional pressure on the nerves and bones of your spinal cord.
Bone Spurs Or Bone Overgrowth – Disk Decomposition often produces excess bone in an attempt to fortify the spinal cord. However, excess bone can create pressure on delicate areas of the spine, such as the spine and nerves, resulting in pain.
Stiffness In The Ligament – These are tissues, which help in connecting one bone to another. Spinal ligaments can stiffen as you get old age, making your neck flexibility less.

Common Symptoms Of Cervical Spondylosis:
For most people, there is no symptom of spondylosis. When symptoms occur, they usually include neck pain and stiffness. Symptoms are most severe at the end of the day and again in the morning. Some of the common symptoms are:

Headache (rear of the neck region)
Not able to rotate or bend your head or neck, often causing trouble in driving.
Lack of coordination and difficulty walking
Loss of control of your bladder and bowel
Muscle Spasms
Neck stiffness and pain
Swelling or sweating on the neck
Weakness, numbness, tingling in arms, hands, feet, or legs

What Are The Common Treatment Protocols For Cervical Spondylosis?

For recovery, your physician can send you to a physiotherapist. Physiotherapy allows muscle stretch stretching in the shoulder and neck area. The exercises allow the muscles to become more flexible and stronger, thus relieving pain. You might get a stiff neck too. Often the physiotherapist uses certain weights to expand the gap between the compressed joints of the cervical spinal cord, thus help to relieve pressure on the associated nerve roots and cervical discs.Cervical spondylosis cannot be cured, but with proper therapy and care, we can stop the disease from growing and avoid problems. Neck pain goes away in 3-4 weeks with proper home therapy with Physiotherapist supervision. Where symptoms are prolonged (4–12 weeks), an experienced Physiotherapist should be contacted to formulate a medical plan for various channels. It may take a few months to recover from this condition.

The whole world is Fighting with one situation, this Covid 19 directly impacts the lungs and damages the alveoli (tiny air sacs). The function of the alveolus is to transfer oxygen to the blood vessels. These blood vessels or capillaries carry the oxygen to the RBCs (Red blood cells). It is the RBCs that finally deliver the oxygen to all the internal organs in the body.
The virus works by damaging the wall and the lining of the alveolus and capillaries. The debris from the damage, which is plasma protein accumulates on the alveolus wall and thickens the lining. As the walls’ thicken, the transfer of oxygen to the red blood cells is impaired. The thicker the wall gets, the more difficult it gets to transfer oxygen to the red blood cells, which causes difficulty in breathing as the body is running short of oxygen. And the lack of oxygen to the internal organs results in a deficit in the body and impairs the functioning of the organs. At this juncture, the body fights to increase oxygen intake.

Breathing exercises can help you relax, because they make your body feel like it does when you are already relaxed. Deep breathing is one of the best ways to lower stress in the body. This is because when you breathe deeply, it sends a message to your brain to calm down and relax. Though it may feel unnatural to breathe deeply, the practice comes with various benefits. Deep breaths are more efficient: they allow your body to fully exchange incoming oxygen with outgoing carbon dioxide. They have also been shown to slow the heartbeat, lower or stabilize blood pressure and lower stress.
Proper Breathing Exercise is

Especially exercise that works your lungs and heart -- has many benefits for those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Exercise can: Improve how well your body uses oxygen. That's important because people with COPD use more energy to breathe than other people do.

In today's techno-savvy world, along with the inventions of newer medical and surgical options for patient care, it is time for all the health-care professionals to also realize that the profession of physiotherapy has reached newer heights wherein it is applicable to treat and rehabilitate innumerable aches.
Physiotherapy plays a major role in rehabilitating a patient. The role of a Physiotherapist is to deal with application of physiotherapy skills & knowledge to the assessment, design, delivery & evaluation of physiotherapeutic treatments in the management of the various conditions of acute or chronic sickness, disability or handicap. The history of physiotherapy, in India, was laid back in 1952 following an epidemic of poliomyelitis. Slowly and steadily physiotherapy did establish a firm base in India with lot of new developments, but still by large, physiotherapy remains a secondary referral profession not only in our country, but in other countries too. Further development of physiotherapy would be dependent on the awareness of referring physicians. It has been seen in the literature that there is a lack of awareness among the general practitioners and physician students. Hence this study was conducted to look at the Physicians (Doctors) Perspective as to how much importance is given to Physiotherapy, their perception of the role of a Physiotherapist & their need to interact with the Physiotherapist for effective treatment outcome of the patient.
An effective awareness about the role of physiotherapists in health-care delivery will aid in decreasing the length of hospital stay, actuating an early recovery, and a smooth rehabilitation journey for an improved good quality of life. As stated by a renowned Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, “Awareness is like the sun, when it shines things are transformed.”
