Proud moment for Kutch and critical care excellence!
Dr. Aravind Chandrasekaran, Director – ECMO Program & Lead Consultant, Critical Care Medicine at K. K. Patel Super Speciality Hospital, Bhuj, has been conferred the “Excellence in Critical Care Medicine” award at the Gujarat Healthcare Excellence Awards 2026, held at Gandhinagar.
The award was presented by Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Hon’ble Speaker of the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly and Chairman, Banas Dairy.
This recognition reflects the remarkable journey of building an advanced ECMO and Critical Care program in Kutch, including:
* ELSO Silver Level ECMO Centre – only centre in Gujarat
* Kutch’s First ECMO Airlift & 56-day ECMO bridge to transplant
* Establishing an advanced ECMO program in a Tier-3 region
* ECMO retrieval services with air ambulance & Western India referral network
* Organising Kutch’s first Simulation Ventilation Workshop (70+)
* International Fellowship in Sepsis & Antimicrobial Stewardship (Gemelli, Rome, Italy)
* Chairperson – Hospital Infection Committee & Antimicrobial Stewardship
* Expertise in Brain-dead organ donor management
* Course Director – Advanced Critical Care Nursing & ECMO fellowships for ICU nurses
* Active National & International conference faculty & ISCCM Bhuj Chapter Secretary
