As part of the ongoing drug awareness campaign spearheaded by Shanthi IRCA and ICC Lakshya, Calicut, a group of 30 students from Lakshya, accompanied by their teachers, visited Shanthi IRCA. During this visit, the students engaged in meaningful interactions with 25 patients and 15 staff members, delving into the detrimental effects of drug abuse and its far-reaching consequences. The event was formally inaugurated by Fr. Alfred V.C., the esteemed director of CDSSS Jeevana and Shanthi IRCA, Calicut, whose expert guidance was pivotal in shaping the success of the initiative. The programme also featured insightful talks by the counsellors from Shanthi IRCA—Ms. Resmi, Mr. Santhosh and Mr. Murali who provided the participants with valuable perspectives on the issue.
The overarching objective of this initiative was to empower students by helping them overcome educational obstacles, while simultaneously fostering their involvement in a noble social cause. The event attended by the CDSSS team, including Ms. Vineetha, Ms. Vyga, Ms. Anusha, and Ms. Anusree, with the active participation of internship students from various distinguished institutions such as K.E. College Mannanam, Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, Marian College Kuttikkanam, and Christ College Kattappana. By taking part in this programme, the students not only gained critical insights into the battle against drug abuse but also contributed to a broader mission of raising awareness about its devastating impact on society.
