Discharging our 400 th Carotid artery stenting patient home on his 1st post op day without any complications and with a happy face and lot of blessings for his second chance of life.. feeling grateful to my whole team, my mentors @ SCTIMST, Tvm & KMCH, Kovai, my friends and family for all the support and sacrifices they have made for achieving this moments...

വാഹനാപകടത്തിൽ മഹാധമനിക്ക് ഗുരുതര പരിക്കേറ്റ തമിഴ്നാട് സ്വദേശിക്കു കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിൽ എൻഡോ വാസ്ക്കുലാർ ചികിത്സ വഴി പുതുജീവൻ നൽകി. തമിഴ്നാട് തിരുപ്പത്തൂർ സ്വദേശിയായ 32 വയസ്സുള്ള പ്രശാന്ത് എന്ന യുവാവാണ് കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിലെ ചികിത്സയിലൂടെ ജീവിതം തിരിച്ചു പിടിച്ചത്. കണ്ണൂരിൽ നിന്ന് ശബരിമലയിലേക്കുള്ള യാത്രാമദ്ധ്യേ കോഴിക്കോട് വെച്ചാണ് വാഹനാപകടമുണ്ടായത്.

കാലിലെ എല്ലുകൾക്കും വാരിയെല്ലുകൾക്കും ഒടിവ് സംഭവിച്ചു ശ്വസിക്കാൻ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിയ പ്രശാന്തിനെ കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിലെ സർജറി വിഭാഗം ഐ സി യുവിൽ അഡ്മിറ്റ്‌ ചെയ്തു നടത്തിയ സിടി സ്കാൻ പരിശോധനയിലാണ് അയോർട്ട എന്ന രക്തക്കുഴലിന് മുറിവ് പറ്റി ശ്വാസകോശത്തിലേക്കു രക്തസ്രാവം ഉണ്ടായ അവസ്ഥ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിന്ന് തലച്ചോറടക്കം ശരീരത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന ഭാഗങ്ങളിലേക്ക് രക്തമെത്തിക്കുന്ന മഹാധമനിയാണ് അയോർട്ട. റേഡിയോളജി ഡിപ്പാർട്മെന്റിലെ ഇന്റർവെൻഷണൽ റേഡിയോളജി വിഭാഗത്തിലേക്കു വിദഗ്ധ ചികിത്സക്ക് റെഫർ ചെയ്യുകയും ഉടനടി ഫെനിസ്ട്രേഷൻ ഈവാർ (FEVAR- Fenestration Endovascular Aortic Repair) എന്ന ചികിത്സ നടത്തുകയുമായിരുന്നു.

ചികിത്സക്ക് ശേഷം ക്രിട്ടിക്കൽ അവസ്ഥയിൽ നിന്ന് മോചിതനായ യുവാവിന് കാലിലെ എല്ലുകൾക്ക് ഓർത്തോ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ട്രീറ്റ്മെന്റ് നൽകി. പൂർണ ആരോഗ്യവാനായ യുവാവ് നാട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി.

Middle aged man with left arm & forearm claudication pain...Chronic smoking has caused occlusion of his subclavian artery(first part)...

The anatomical variant in this patient- left vertebral artery directly taking origin from arch of aorta- impeded the vertebral steal phenomenon, which would have otherwise made his limb symptom free

The CTO underwent stenting by combined Left radial and Right femoral artery access.
