Apan Vayu Mudra – Gesture to save life
Apana Vayu mudra is a therapeutic mudra, mainly helps in healing heart-related diseases. This mudra is also known as Mrit-Sanjeevni Mudra.

Apana Vayu mudra includes gesture of the thumb, middle finger, ring finger, and index finger. This mudra increases the earth element with the fire element and decreases the air element in the body.

This balance of element helps to clean the body and supply more oxygen to the heart. As a result, this increases the strength of our heart. We fold the index finger in this mudra which reduces the excess of air element in the body.

Thus, this mudra balances these three elements and gives relief from heart disorders and many other problems.

Here’s How To Do It:

1. find a quiet place and sit comfortably with your spine tall
extend the arms forward, palms up
2. fold your index finger in towards the center of your palm
cross your thumb over the index finger
3. touch the tip of the thumb to the tips of the middle AND ring fingers
4. keep little finger straight
5. keep elbows straight
soften or close your eyes, and practice 1:1 mindful, diaphragmatic breathing with the intention of healing your heart.

Benefits with Regular Practice:

1. helps prevent heart attacks as well as their recurrence, lessen heart palpitations, relieve heaviness on heart
2. helps relieve heartache, anxiety, panic, grief, sadness, overwhelm
3. helps balance the three doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) as well as can help improve digestive fire as well as lung capacity

Vishnu mudra is a hand posture used during alternate nostril breathing exercises in yoga. It is named in honor of Lord Vishnu, one of the main deities in Hinduism. Mudra is a Sanskrit word that means “seal” or “gesture.” Mudras can be symbolic, but in yoga, they are often believed to affect the mind and body by helping to clear the energy channels, also known as nadis.

Vishnu mudra is practiced with the right hand, which symbolizes receiving. To perform vishnu mudra, the forefinger and middle finger are curled in toward the palm, while the other three fingers remain extended.

Nadi shodhana, or alternate nostril breathing, is one of the most elemental pranayama breathing exercises in yoga, and Vishnu mudra is a key component of this practice. In nadi shodhana with Vishnu mudra, the thumb and ring finger rest lightly on either side of the nose. The yogi uses his thumb to close the right nostril while inhaling through the left nostril. The thumb is then released and the ring finger closes the left nostril so the yogi exhales through the right nostril. To complete the cycle, the process is reversed with the inhale through the right and exhale through the left.

This pranayama is thought to balance the left and right sides of the brain. In addition to a range of physical benefits, nadi shodhana stills the mind for meditation, improves concentration and reduces stress.
