Today, we mourn the passing of Dr. Senthil Murugan, who left us far too soon due to a sudden cardiac arrest. More than just an exceptional OMFS surgeon, he was a mentor, a friend, and a beacon of hope for his patients.

Dr. Senthil, your steady hands and kind heart will be missed in the OT and beyond. Thank you for your service and the smiles you restored.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rest in peace. πŸ•ŠοΈ

Tiny smiles. Big responsibility. 🦷✨

Oral health awareness **starts way before the first tooth falls** β€” it begins the moment those tiny pearly whites peek through. For our *tiny tots*, oral health isn’t just about brushing; it’s about building habits that last a lifetime.

From cleaning gums even before teeth erupt, to introducing the right brushing techniques, fluoride use, and mindful eating β€” every small step counts. Sugary snacks, bottle feeding at bedtime, and ignoring early cavities may seem harmless now, but they silently shape a child’s future oral health.

Healthy baby teeth are **not β€œtemporary” or β€œreplaceable”** β€” they guide speech, nutrition, facial development, and self-confidence. A cavity-free childhood often translates to fewer dental fears, better compliance, and healthier adult smiles.

Parents, caregivers, teachers β€” you are the first oral health educators. Make brushing fun, dental visits routine (not fear-driven), and oral hygiene a *normal* part of daily life, not a punishment or an afterthought.

Because when we protect tiny teeth today,
we gift them confident smiles tomorrow. πŸ’™

Start early. Stay consistent. Smile brighter.

SIMATS celebrated Pongal Kondattam like a pro with colour coded colleges, traditional pongal preparation, Kolam competition, Mayillattam, Poi Kaal Kuthirai, Karakattam, with thiruvizha set up of Giant Wheel, Columbus etc.

Each college had its stall that had special pongal preparation, and other items reflecting the glimpses of pongal.

When it comes to SIMATS, pongal is not just another Holiday, its a Thiruvizha πŸŽ†β€

Healthy smiles are more than just aesthetics β€” they are a reflection of overall health, dignity, and access to care. 🌍✨
At Saveetha Dental College, our commitment to SDG Goal 3: Good Health & Well-Being goes far beyond the walls of the institution. Through sustained outreach programmes, school health initiatives, community dental camps, oral health education, and preventive care services, we strive to bridge the gap between knowledge and accessibility.

Each frame here tells a story β€” of compassion in action, of students and faculty stepping into communities, of preventive care reaching those who need it the most, and of smiles restored with trust and empathy. From children learning the importance of oral hygiene to adults receiving essential dental care, every interaction reinforces our belief that oral health is integral to general health.

These initiatives are not just services; they are learning experiences, collaborations, and a promise towards inclusive healthcare. Because when we invest in prevention, awareness, and early intervention, we don’t just treat diseases β€” we empower communities. 🀍

We congratulate Dr. Lalitha Rani Chellappa on completing her PhD on oral health of tribal population. Her study was a community based trial which evaluated the effectiveness of health intervention among 5 tribal communities of Tamil Nadu.. She had the opportunity to work with other dental colleges, Indian Dental Association and many NGOs for this project. Her study findings would serve as a baseline for oral health policies tailored for tribal communities. πŸ˜‡

All the best Dr. Lalitha for your future endeavors ❀️🎊
