Saveetha Universityy celebrated the Founder’s Day 2017 on Saturday, 18th November with exuberance at the MM Convention center. In attendance were more than 2000 people, to honor the contribution of the founder and leader, Dr. N M Veeraiyan, Chancellor of Saveetha University. The day marks completion of 30 years for Saveetha Dental College, the first and premiere institution of the University and witnessed scholarships and awards being granted for faculty and students of the university in academics, presentations and publications. More than 500 awards were given and cash prizes and scholarships worth more than Rs. 1.35 crores were granted to recognize the hard work and achievements of the faculty and students. The felicitation of Chancellor was done in a grand manner by the who’s who of society reflecting on his popularity among people, not only in the field of academics and healthcare, but as a philanthropist, visionary and legend on the soil of Tamil Nadu. The chief guest for the event was , Chairman of GEM group of companies, President, Capexil , Kolkata and President of Indo Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industries. A renowned name in India and abroad, he enjoyed the ceremony and was appreciative of the talented youngsters. He was felicitated by the Chancellor. The ceremony was made memorable by cultural performances by students from all institutions of Saveetha University. The lifetime achievement award was conferred to Dr. K. Ravindranath, Dr. C. S. Prasad, Mr. K. N. Srinivasan and Mr. D. Shankar for their exemplary contributions in their respective fields. Master Narendran Gouthaman from Pupil Eco School received the “Young Achievers Award” for his outstanding achievements and laurels as a champion in Chess. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem followed by lunch. The attendees were gratified by the immense progress of their University and motivated to achieve higher horizons in future.
