Thousands of years ago, a compelling situation of disease outbreak in multitude led to the emergence of schools of Ayurveda, specializing in general medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, toxicology and others streams of Ashtanga Ayurveda (eight branches of Ayurveda). Disease behaviour pattern, drug properties, treatment principles knit with spiritual health aspects were documented and presented by scholars in the form of texts called Samhitha. Each of these texts had unique contributions as treatment response and herbal applications were statistically significant with respect to each scholar who was also a clinical practitioner. Geographical limitations, cultural invasions and time did not deter Ayurveda’s role as a health care system till today. Practitioners read Samhitha ( Charaka Samhitha or Susruta Samhitha or Vagbhata Samhitha ) and apply their advocations in treating patients. The back bone of Ayurveda’s clinical presence in the past, now and future is Samhitha. An Ayurvedic Clinic at Chennai was born in 2010 and named as Dr.Hari’s Samhitha. Samhitha Ayurvedic Health Center’s prime focus is on health care delivery through genuine Ayurveda driven by Ayurveda’s Moola Siddhantha ( basic principles of Ayurveda). Considering the prevalence of allergies, joint diseases, chronic digestive and skin disorders, the clinic aims to provide comprehensive treatment for these conditions in addition to wide spectrum of other diseases.
