A Seizure Diary is an important tool in the management of your epilepsy and general health. When discussing it with your health care provider, as if there is any additional information you should be including in your Seizure Diary. Your health care provider should view your Seizure Diary at every appointment.

First Aid if a Child is having a seizure:

Place the child on the floor on their side and clear away any objects nearby that may cause injury.

Time the duration of the seizure.

Loosen tight clothing surrounding the head or neck (if possible).

Don't put anything in the child's mouth or try to stop the seizure in any way.

If the child vomits, move their head to the side and clear their mouth.

Don't try to hold the child down or restrain their movements.

Do not give the child anything to eat or drink.

Stay with the child and reassure them until they have recovered.

Call for medical assistance if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes or longer than usual for the child.
