SEESHA

SEESHA SEESHA (Samiti for Education, Environment, Social and Health Action) is a non-profit organization empowering underprivileged communities across India.
(1)

Founded in the year 2003 by renowned philanthropist Dr. Paul Dhinakaran, SEESHA was originally started as a charity organisation. As the vision began to grow, its reach also widened to address the cause of downtrodden communities across India. Over the years, SEESHA’s approach has altered from charity to welfare and from welfare to holistic community development. Steadily growing into an entity of professionalism and experience, SEESHA now adopts villages in some of the poorest regions in India, working towards their holistic development. With a four-fold view of development, we focus on areas of Education, Health, Environment and Livelihood among the people we work with. Our target groups include children, youth, women, senior citizens, communities, differently-abled, persons in need of physiological and psychological care and victims of natural disasters.

*From Learner to Maker!*

At SEESHA's free tailoring centres across India, women from under-resourced communities learn to stitch from scratch — at no cost, guided by patient trainers. With each session, their skill and confidence steadily grow.

For these mothers, one of the most cherished milestones is stitching a dress for their child. The making itself — every seam, every hem — fills them with quiet delight and deep contentment. Watching their little ones wear something made by their own hands turns a newfound skill into a profound, personal joy.

*Celebrating Women, Empowering Communities*

SEESHA commemorated International Women's Day 2026 last week under the theme 'Give to Gain' across its North India locations — Ranchi, Bhilai, Vyara, and Mumbai — honoring women's strength, resilience, and potential.

In Ranchi, 100 community members engaged in women's rights awareness, musical chair competitions, a quiz, and a cake-cutting ceremony. In Bhilai, trainees received course completion certificates recognizing their tailoring and beautician skills. In Vyara, SDP Centre beneficiaries who completed tailoring training were recognized with course completion certificates. In Mumbai, 50 women participated in an impactful session on health awareness, rights, and support systems.

Together, these celebrations reaffirmed SEESHA's commitment to empowering women across communities.

*Empowering Hands, Enabling Livelihoods*

Many women struggle to achieve financial independence due to prohibitively expensive fees or unreliable training available elsewhere. These subpar programs often fail to teach the advanced techniques required for the professional market, leaving talent without a path to stable earnings.

SEESHA’s free 3-month Aari program bridges this gap with expert, high-caliber instruction at no cost. By mastering intricate Zardosi and bridal wear, women transform into professional artisans. This empowers them to earn a steady income from home, becoming dignified, sustainable breadwinners for their families.

*Hold Their Hands. Heal Their Hearts.*

An elder lives alone, without the support of their family. No one to care. No one to call their own.

At SEESHA's Old Age Care Home, we see this reality often. We see the silence in their eyes — and we choose to fill it with warmth, dignity, and love. Every elder in our care receives assisted living, nourishing meals, and compassionate geriatric support. Because we believe no one should spend their final years forgotten.

But we cannot do this alone. Your kind-hearted support can make a huge difference in their lives.
* ₹15,000/month — Full care for 1 destitute elder
* ₹60,000/month — Care & comfort for 4 elders
* ₹1,00,000/month — Dignity & hope for 7 elders

Every monthly pledge donor receives a custom SEESHA wristband, engraved with 'Hold their hands, heal their hearts' — couriered to your door.
