Spiritual Outing for Sevalaya Seniors 🌸

10 residents of Sevalaya’s VT Shanthi Memorial Senior Citizens Home, Dharmapuri, went on a spiritual temple visit on 19 Feb 2026. They visited Perumal Kovil, Sai Baba Kovil, and Salai Vinayagar Kovil. The trip, including a delicious meal, was sponsored by Ashish Kataria, a donor who also supports the home’s operational needs.

Sevalaya Spreads Awareness on Responsible Voting 🗳️

On 19 Feb 2026, Sevalaya conducted a street play at Koduvalli village, Tiruvallur, as part of its Kottu Murasu initiative. The theme was the importance of fair voting and responsible voting.

9 student volunteers from Madras Christian College, Madras School of Social Work, and Loyola College organised and performed the programme.

The street play explained why every vote is important, how to vote responsibly, and how false information can mislead people. Through simple and powerful performances, they shared messages about democracy and citizen responsibility.

More than 50 villagers attended the event. The programme helped them understand that voting is both a right and a duty that affects the country’s future. The event ended with Parai and Oyilattam performances.

Panimalar Students Visit Sevalaya Old Age Home🤩

On 19 Feb 2026, 95 medical students from Panimalar Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, Chennai, visited Sevalaya’s Kasuva Centre and met the residents of the Swami Vivekananda Old Age Home.

The students interacted with the elderly, understood their health needs and family backgrounds, and learned about geriatric care and elderly support.

A Baby Girl for Our Sevalaya Daughter 👶💛

On 20 Feb 2026, Sevalaya Murali, Founder and Managing Trustee, and Bhuvaneswari Muralidharan, Honorary Correspondent of Sevalaya, attended the naming ceremony of the baby girl of Sevalaya’s daughter, Mahalakshmi.

The baby was born on 12 January, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, and was therefore named Niveditha (a disciple of Swami Vivekananda) by Sevalaya Murali.

Mahalakshmi was admitted to Sevalaya at the age of six by her distant relatives after she lost her parents at a young age. Today, she is a mother, beginning a new chapter in her life.

She completed her Higher Secondary education at Sevalaya, and the organisation supported her in pursuing a Diploma in Nursing at Gandhigram Rural Institute.

Earlier, Sevalaya also conducted the wedding of Mahalakshmi and P Raja in a traditional ceremony at Sevalaya’s Kasuva Centre.

Young Talents Celebrate Victory at Anna University 🎉🏆

27 students from Sevalaya’s Kasuva Centre participated in “VIVEGA-25,” a cultural competition organised by the Youth Red Cross, College of Engineering, at Anna University, Guindy, Chennai on 15 Feb 2026.

Competitions included Word Puzzle, Newspaper Dressing Game, Oratorical, Poetry Writing, Story Writing, Dance, Drawing, Solo Singing, and Group Singing.

Sevalaya students secured multiple prizes:

Hall Ticket Pooja for Std XII Students 🙏📚

Sevalaya organised a Hall Ticket Pooja for 164 students of Std XII from Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School, Kasuva Centre, on 19 Feb 2026.

The pooja took place at the temple, invoking the grace of Lord Thazhuva Kolundeeshwarar and His consort Goddess Balambigai, Lord Hanuman and Bhadrachala Ramar.

This annual prayer is held to help students gain confidence, peace of mind, and emotional support.

Dr AV Senthil, Wealth Architect, long-time donor of Sevalaya, was the Chief Guest. He along with R Vijaya, Head, Education, Sevalaya prayed for the students to achieve excellent marks.

How to Become a Pilot ✈️ – Exploring Aviation Careers

A career guidance session on aviation and motivational session was conducted at Sevalaya’s Kasuva Centre on 14 Feb 2026.

Dr T R Sudha, Founder of Vasanthan Library, along with K S Muthukrishnan, Former Assistant Director, DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) and Former Investigator, AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau) addressed 336 students of Std IX and XI.

Dr T R Sudha shared her educational journey and work experience. She emphasised:

• Reading newspapers daily

• How to Crack UPSC exam in a single attempt

K S Muthukrishnan, with 15 years of experience in the Civil Aviation industry and one of the few aviation investigators in India, explained how aircraft function and spoke about the invention of the airplane.

He guided students on:

• How to become a pilot, an aviation investigator and air traffic controller

• The importance of focusing on Physics and Mathematics

• The cost of pilot training (above ₹50 lakhs)

• Free pilot training through the National Defence Academy (NDA) by clearing the entrance exam with strong performance in Physics and Mathematics

The session was interactive, with students actively clarifying their doubts about aviation careers.

Eminent Educationist S S Rajagopalan – Prayer Meeting at Sevalaya🌱

A prayer meeting for S S Rajagopalan was held at Sevalaya’s Kasuva Centre on 14 Feb 2026.

Dr Balaji Sampath, Founder and CEO, Aid India, S Thenpandian, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Tiruvallur, and Prasanna Gandhi, Founder - Director, Aram Porul Foundation recalled his immense contribution to public education, teacher training, Tamil-medium instruction, and his efforts to ensure equal and compassionate education for all children.

He was remembered as a simple, courageous, and dedicated educationist who worked tirelessly for the welfare of students.

Prizes were distributed to students who secured top ranks and achieved 100% attendance. Staff members offered floral tributes to his portrait. Trustees, teachers, students, and well-wishers paid homage and shared their memories.

Tiruvallur District Collector Holds Election Awareness Programme at Sevalaya 🌱

The Tamil Nadu Government conducted an election awareness programme under the SVEEP initiative at Sevalaya’s Kasuva Centre on 17 Feb 2026.

Prathap Murugan, IAS, District Collector and District Election Officer, Tiruvallur, presided over the programme. He encouraged senior citizens to vote in the upcoming Assembly elections, assured assistance for electoral roll enrolment, informed that volunteers would help in form filling, and stated that doorstep voting would be arranged for residents above 85 years of age.

The Collector administered the voter pledge, demonstrated on how to use the voting machine, interacted with the elders, and honoured them with shawls and flower crowns.

21 Community College students and approximately 150 elderly residents from Sri Sai Home, Swagatham Foundation, Sushila Home, Home Sweet Home, Kavasa Foundation and Sevalaya’s Old Age Homes took part in the programme.

Krishna Sweets MD Releases Second Edition of ‘Paamaranin Bhagavad Geethai’ ☺️

M Murali, Managing Director, Sri Krishna Sweets, released the Second Edition of Paamaranin Bhagavad Geethai authored by Sevalaya Murali at a function held at Arkay Convention Centre, Mylapore on 14 Feb 2026.

The Tamil spiritual book draws inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s The Bhagavad Gita – According to Gandhi, Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s Tamil translation, and the teachings and speeches of Swami Vivekananda, offering a layman's perspective of the Gita through everyday life incidents.

Kalaimamani Isaikkavi Ramanan, renowned poet, orator, actor, and Brand Ambassador of Sevalaya participated.

A Glimpse into Space with a NASA Scientist 🚀✨

Dr Murthy Gudipati, Senior Research Scientist, NASA, shared his knowledge about astronomy with Sevalaya students at the Kasuva Centre on 13 Feb 2026, through an online session.

The session covered topics such as galaxies, black holes, supernovae, the formation of stars, the solar system, planetary exploration, space missions, and the search for life beyond Earth. He also clarified students’ doubts and answered their questions on various aspects of space science.

110 students from Std VIII, IX, and XI participated in the session.

1. EDUCATION - (MAHAKAVI BHARATHIYAR UNIT)

MAHAKAVI BHARATHIYAR HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL Is a Govt. recognized, unaided, Tamil medium school for classes from pre-school to higher secondary. It provides quality education 100% free. The school provides Value based education to make the children self-reliant and responsible citizens. Teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda and Mahakavi Bharathiyar are imparted to children. • Free Education from Pre KG to Std XII • Free uniforms, stationary, notebooks and text books • Free transport for nursery day scholar children • Total school strength 2000 • Minimal Drop outs (2%) [Enrollment at std I, less pass out std XII] • Centum or near centum results in board exams (Std X & XII) SWAMI VIVEKANANDA LIBRARY (INCLUDING MOBILE LIBRARY) Has over 15,000 books including the complete works of Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda and Mahakavi Bharathiyar and also books on various topics like self-improvement, physical and biological sciences, IT and engineering . • Free library with a collection of 15000 books • Open to public. • In a month the mobile library reaches around 500 people in villages. 2. RURAL DEVELOPMNET (MAHATHMA GANDHI UNIT) SEVALAYA IS A GREEN ZONE. It imparts environment education to its children and implements the same in the campus. It segregates the degradable and non-degradable wastes for disposal. ORGANIC FARMING. Is implemented in the campus. We use cow dung and vermicomposting as bio-fertilizer. Sevalaya conducts regular workshops to propagate organic farming. VIOBAJI GOSHALA Shelters cows yielding milk for consumption by residents. It also shelters dry cows KASTURBA CRAFT CENTER Conducts a six month free certificate course in tailoring and craft for poor rural women. Computer classes for rural poor youth and women are also conducted MEDICAL CAMPS Sevalaya conducts regular medical camps for eye, dental and general checkup for the benefit of the residents and villagers • Green Zone • Organic Farming • Goshala • Craft center • Medical camps 3. HOMES (SWAMI VIVEKANANDA UNIT)

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA BOYS AND MOTHER TERESA GIRLS HOME Unaided, recognized as “children’s homes” under dept. of social defense, Tamil Nadu Govt. Presently these homes shelter around 175 children. These homes provide food, education, opportunities for skill development and talent promotion in an atmosphere of love and care. These children are taken care of till they become self-dependent. Many of the children are now well settled in life, pursuing careers as qualified mechanics, electricians, artisans, bank officers, nurses and software professionals. SRI RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSA OLD AGE HOME Unaided, recognized by the social welfare department, Govt of Tamil Nadu It is a home for poor and destitute senior citizens. The home strives to provide dignified living in the evening of their lives. 60 senior citizens are provided shelter. INTEGRATED CAMPUS Aided, recognized by the social welfare department, Govt of Tamil Nadu. Sevalaya has been selected by the Govt of Tamil Nadu for implementation of its new program in Thiruvallur Dist, the integrated campus under which 25 destitute senior citizens and 25 destitute children are housed in one campus. • Boys home and girls home housing 150 orphan/destitute children. • Old age home housing 60 senior citizens • Integrated campus housing 25 senior citizens and 25 children in the same campus.
